About
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N.C. State University was designed by Arnold Palmer with the help of N.C. State graduates Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson. It's home to the university's men's and women's golf teams but it's open to the public as well. It's a favorite among locals who claim it's one of the toughest golf courses in the Triangle. The course sprawls across more than 200 acres on the southernmost portion of Centennial Campus, a location that is easily accessible from I-40 and offers scenic views of the Raleigh skyline. The greens can be difficult to read and they are often framed by rough
areas and strategically placed bunkers that make them even trickier. It's an especially tough golf course to play on windy days. Lonnie Poole G.C. is a beast from the black tees but the shorter tees make it accessible for high handicappers.

Awesome track
I love playing this track. It’s just a great layout with wide Fairways and big bunkers. The greens were in excellent condition compared to many in the area soft and receptive. I look forward to playing again soon.
Very nice experience!
Used the Golfnow app to secure tee time for a buddy and I.Beautiful day with a fairly significant wind. Course was quite dry with little rain recently and temps in the upper 90's. Fairways were difficult to hit with a lot of roll off into trouble. Greens were hard and fast. This is one of the more challenging courses I play but really enjoyed the experience . I'll definitely play here again.

Experienced hacker
Great tract. Well cared for, super greens, fairways, tee boxes, sand traps. Great service. Like the combo of tee boxes options for your slope rating needs. Coming back k in a couple weeks. Only betterment would be senior rates, I am 76, shot an 87 from green tees. Bit pricey but worth it . Need info. on Senior member rates. I use a cart, trying to walk this course would be difficult. Beautiful natural setting and felt like part of nature.

Best Public in Raleigh by far
Bent grass greens are slow in summer due to grass length and excessive watering. Everything else is great.

Overall Good Condition
Fairways are excellent, native grasses are brutal. Bent greens a little slow but rolling true....would be even better if ball marks were repaired (I fixed 5-6 every hole). Great layout, gotta know where to miss on this course.
