Love playing here
Played on 3/29/20. Two hours and forty minutes to play 18 holes. Best greens in NE Georgia, and I’m not kidding. Can’t wait for the fairways to fully green up, but course in good shape for late March. With all the houses being built, new clubhouse opened up, would be nice to have a bathroom or two around the course. Only downfall is price; price has increased significantly the last year or two (you used to play this course for $25 during the week, $40 on weekends; now weekends are $60).
Worth the price of admission
The last time I played Chimney Oaks, it was called Scales Country Club and was a real treat at $30. I was wary of paying $50 (afternoon rate) to play, but I am glad I did. The new clubhouse facility is a big improvement, but the real story is the course itself. The new greens have come in well and roll nicely. Everything else is in good shape -- as you would expect at this time of year. The layout is an absolute blast to play, as most Mark McCumber designs are. It's worth the 45-minute drive and the price tag.
Fast greens
Played today and overall it is a awesome course. The greens were extremely fast which made putting hard. Wish the sand bunkers had more sand but overall a great course, I would go more often if the price was about 10 bucks cheaper.
Course in Great Condition
4 of us played on a cold overcast day. The greens were excellent and the course was very good overall.
Hcm
Love the course and staff will definitely play here again
Very good course for enthusiaists
Tees are very good with nice fairways, lot of challenges getting to the cup, greens are in great shape and fast. Love how they strive to keep course clean from all the leaves blowing off the trees.
Fantastic clean course!
It's a very clean course in fareway and green without leaves in current season, really not easy! that very helpful to find the ball easily. I play several courses these days, none of course can keep the clean level as they do! Fantastic course maintenances as like Japanese good golf course! I thought that’s one of the reason why I got good score
Hidden Gem
Since the new greens this course in the best shape I have seen it and I have played it since day one. The price is what is keeping play down but its consistant with other courses in this condition. Don`t let the past keep you from coming back, I think you will enjoy your round here.
Great Local course
Played this course maybe 4 years ago and it was a little rough around the edges. I was really surprised to see the course in great shape. The greens were rolling nice and the fairways were immaculate. Go play if you get a chance. Well worth the drive and the money.
Hidden Gem
I just recently played Chimney Oaks and had a blast. The course is very challenging, but fair. The layout is coupled in a valley with wide manicured fairways and greens. The friendly staff welcome you as soon as you walk in. I definitely would recommend to others to play this wonderful and reasonable priced course.
Forgiving layout
First time playing this course. Maybe it was luck, maybe not....but the course is fairly wide open with not a lot of trouble lurking. Good scores can be had with decent tee shots. Greens were recovering from aeration, but were rolling good. I’ll be back here A+
Holiday/Sunday Round
Since the first round of major course upgrades have been completed (new greens and teeboxes, cart upgrades, lengthening of holes, landscaping), C/O is a totally different course. Golf Advisor needs to update the Scorecard with the correct distances, handicaps, etc. The pictures, particularly ones showing the greens before they were completely re-done, need to be updated. Next time I play, I will take plenty of pictures to show the improvements. This course is challenging and competitive, but quite enjoyable. The rates are very reasonable and pace of play is normally very good. With that being said, playing yesterday on the Sunday before Memorial Day was frustrating. The marshal didn't seem to have any effect on keeping pace of play moving. My twosome was behind a mixed foursome playing at a leisurely pace without playing ready golf, and the foursome in front of them did not seem to understand the use of the sand containers on the golf cart. So our waiting time on each hole was spent watching the couples ahead of us stand around each other's ball, or fixing the multiple fresh divots of the foursome in front of them. However, that is the nature of weekend play, and in the future we will stick to playing weekdays. And even with the pace of play and the amazing late May heat, we still had an enjoyable round. Chimney Oaks has done an amazing job upgrading the course and we look forward to seeing the other upgrades in the future.
Waste of time and money
Extremely dissapointed that GolfNow did not warn us that they are renovating the greens and are using temporary greens in the fairway. Not much effort was put into creating those anyways. Par 3's were not playable. One hole had been transformed so that you were literally chipping from one tee box to the next. Went to ask for my money back (I knew it was a longshot due to GolfNow's policy), but i figured I could at least get some range balls to compensate. Turns out their range is closed as well. The manager was not there, so the employee offerred to call him, however he didn't pick up. I left my number for him to call me back and never heard back from him. Extremely dissapointed. Will not be returning. Only bright spot was that the boy working the shop was very polite and understanding.
Dont plan on playing there this summer
I am disappointed that GolfNow did not inform me when I booked that all the greens are under repair and you play temporary
greens. The set up on the par fives is bizarre as there is a short par three temporary green and a second tee box to play toward a tempoary green short of the regular green. Not even a temporary green on the par threes. No explaination was given in the clubhouse. A small sign on the clubhouse door stated that due to the greens being under repair rounds cost $25.
Terrible
No warning the Greens were all scrapped and only had temporary holes in the fairway. Waste of time but didn’t want to waste hour drive. Will not return
