Bum Deal
A buddy and I both booked a back to back foursome on a Saturday afternoon. One of our group arrived 30 minutes early and was told they were having a tournament and we wouldn’t be able to play. That is not ok!!! The course is a 30+ minute drive and four of us drove. Luckily the one who was there early called everyone else to let them know we couldn’t play, so all of us didn’t go all the way to the course. Very disappointing
Interesting layout...requires some accuracy
Pretty typical of mountain courses with some blind shots but overall, pretty straight forward. A couple of narrow fairways and, like other mountain courses, a fair number of uphill, downhill or sidehill lies. Greens were a little choppy in places but should be better when grass gets to growing. Overall, some challenging hole but many pretty flat where you can see the green from the tee. Traps are full of small pebbles and sand is heavy. I'll probably go back this summer.
There was a tournament at the same time, but it was organized such that it did not affect our pace of play.
greens
some of the greens were really rough and the fairways were a little thin but all are at this time of year. A fun course overall
Good value for the price!
The course itself is really in good condition for early spring... the greens need a lot of work but apparently they will remedy that this summer with a complete reconstruction.
Great Layout - grrens are in bad condition!
I played the course years ago when it was Hammers Glen and it was normally in great condition. I wasn't aware it changed ownership a few times since then. Me and a friend decided to play this past Saturday due to the great deal on Golfnow and the reviews stating the greens were good and the overall course ratings. We drove just under an hour to get to the course and were greatly disappointed in the greens.
We loved everything but the greens. The previous positive reviews about the greens was not true!
Excellent layout
Crews are working hard to get greens in ship shape for coming season. Lots of improvements going on and can’t wait to see how they turn out. Very enjoyable
Great improvements
I have played Chimney Oaks three times in five years, each time under different ownership. CO is in the best shape I've seen it. You can see a lot is going on around the course to make it better. Fairways, tee boxes in great shape. Sand in bunkers pretty good for this time of year. Were the there bunkers added? Deepened? I don't remember the bunkers surrounding most greens in a menacing way as they do now. The slope change indicates that something is tougher than it used to be. The greens were fair at best, but I can see they are working on them and they should be great come spring. I like the layout of the course. Cart paths have been repaired and are very smooth. Altogether I'm very impressed at the direction the course is going. My only complaint is I have to drive an hour fifteen minutes to get there! Will be back sooner next time.
Golf Course is turning around in a big way!
A few months ago the golf course was not really playable due to the greens. Alrhough this is my favorite layout around i stayed a way for a while. My visit on Monday was really great. You can tell that major efforts are being done to turn the course around. Greens look way better. The staff was excellent as well. Not sure if he is the pro or not but the young guy working the shop was extremely nice and accommodating. Not to mention they have an excellent restaurant now. If the course keeps trending up like this i will be playing there a lot. Thanks guys.

THE GREENS ARE BACK!
I have been playing this course for years and they had trouble with the greens back in July all the way up to December but they are back now and better than ever the fairways look the best they have ever looked and the tee boxes are maintained a lot better now and the staff was very helpful and after my round I ate at the 19th hole and the food was amazing but the greens are back and very healthy ill be back for sure when it gets warmer!
Great course for price
This was my first time playing the course. I was bummed that the driving range was under repair, and some holes as well I believe due to storm damage. The layout however is great, with the holes being straight forward in planning shots. The greens were in need of a little care, but what could you expect from winter golf?
Great for drive and chip
I like this course, but had not played for a couple years. Multiple sections of the cart paths were being replaced, so I waited until that was complete. During that time, there was a huge problem with the greens.
That is why I haven't played there recently. The greens are not in good shape, but I can see the results of the effort being made. When the greens were in good shape again, I will give this course a 5 star rating.
No grass on the greens
Tee boxes and fairways are good but greens are the worst, probably would be better if they covered them with sand and rolled them. It's a shame because it could be a great place to play.
Golfer Beware - It's bad
Worst greens I've encountered in my life. No alerts or warnings from Golf-now. Paid full price. Played nine holes and left. Golf-now should be better than this.
Golfers beware. Dead greens
Paid full price and got to the course to find dead greens. No advisory from golf-now just dead greens.
Unfortunately the greens are gone.
From tee to green the conditions are very good, but unfortunately there is very little grass on the greens. We wondered why the parking lot was almost empty when we pulled in, but we soon discovered that it had to be the condition of the greens. It was like putting on worn out indoor outdoor carpeting. I like the design of the course (I have never seen it in better condition from tee to green) and look forward to coming back if and when they get the greens back.
