About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Course Conditions Somewhat in Flux
Have played this course many times over the years and mostly enjoyed it very much, but some conditions in flux and do not care for recent changes in layout. Greens and most fairways in good condition, tee boxes are kind of hit and miss with a few having little grass and some having new sod installed recently. Several areas of cart paths pretty rough to drive and some large areas of trees recently cleared, making those areas very unattractive at this time. Changed the fun hole #16 from a par 4 to a very weak par 3 due to installation of driving range, absolutely hate hitting off fake grass driving range mats to play a hole less than 100 yards and not fun at all. Staff is always very friendly and know they have larger plans for additional changes to the layout of some holes to improve the course in the future, but having to pay fairly high prices for currently overall lower quality conditions than in the past has me playing there much less often than I did previously, as I can enjoy myself more for lower greens fees and better conditions at other courses.
Making improvements
Greens were in good shape. Starting to work on the tee boxes. Considering how other courses are falling off in the area, I’d come back here.

Pace of play
Great course. I play here often, but the last couple of times the pace of place was unacceptable. Marshal did try to move people along, but it didn't help.
