About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Great course
Nice layout my only problem is the pace of game today was very slow. We had a group in front of us hitting 2-3 balls each from the tee.

New ownership
Was going to play this afternoon with a friend who works for a local School and gets a discount. Did not book a time when I looked at the pricing yesterday but it was listed at $34 at 3 pm so we decided to walk up. I arrived at 2:30 pm and noticed there had been some changes since I was there last, good. The parking lot had maybe 8-10 cars in it and since it was raining overnight up till 9am I expected there wouldn't be many people there. So the gentleman at the counter and the new owner were sharing some of the changes when the counter man told me it would be $46. I live about two miles from this course and have golfed here many times over the last 21 years but I was saddened by the lack of customer service. I am in customer service and am aware that a little bit can go a long way, and a little bad can mean you lose a customer. Not sure I'll be returning.
Greens were much better today after some rain, not as fast! Complementary hot dogs for July 4th was a nice touch!

Busy day at Bear Creek, but based on available tee times it was a busy day at every golf course within 100 miles of Atlanta. We teed off maybe 15-20 minutes after our scheduled time, but we were in no hurry. Bit of a log jam for the first 5-6 holes, but then it spaced out pretty nicely. Course condition was great. Nice mix of challenging to fairly easy holes. First time on this track, and we got a bit turned around on the transition from 14 to 15. Other than that signage was good and course was fairly easy to navigate. The new practice range is nice. Appears it was built on the 16th hole, which has been converted to a ~85yd pitch-n-putt (hopefully temporarily).

Love hate relationship
Love playing the corse but it’s always a little slow. Somewhat due to layout between holes. But will definitely keep playing it. I the late tee time availability now with a driving range i have no reason not to go. Other than 4:30 hours to play a round on average

Bear creek golf course
Overall, bear creek is a nice course. Fairly challenging and lots of fun. I would recommend this course to anyone that enjoys the game of golf. The course will hold lots of water, but that’s the price you may pay playing in or after the rain. But like I said bear creek is a great course I always look forward to playing.

Course conditions
Everything is great except the holes on the greens has not been moved for a while
The cup edges are too overgrown and makes the hole look much smaller
Putts are lipping out very easily
