About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Odd layout

slower than slow play
The starter was very nice, good thing since we had to wait with him for a half hour after the group in front of us teed off due to insufficient rental carts. The pace was glacial, we caught up with that group on 9 and had to quit after 15 . In fairness it was a warm day and a holiday (Mon after New Year's Day). But where was the ranger?

Would not recommend!
Owner is a real piece of work. I have known him all of my life and know exactly how he operates. *as a former employee I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Majority of operation is illegally funded and don’t imagine course being in business much longer. Staff is very rude and won’t think twice about screwing you over to get your money. Course is a dog track honestly. Fairways are trash, just like the owner. STAY AWAY! Most positive reviews on here are fake, don’t trust it.

Over booked
It was a hit and wait 5 minute kind of day. Seemed as if they were accepting anyone walking in and allowing to play in between tee times. Clubhouse staff seem to be perturbed that we booked on GolfNow and spoke with disdain. Maybe it was just an off day. Perhaps later I will try again

Very pleasantly surprised
Greens were very quick and smooth. Tee boxes were decent especially for this time of year. Staff was very friendly and my friend and i enjoyed our round. Will be frequenting this course a lot in the future as it’s only 15 minutes from my home course cherokee run.

Better than my expectation.
I read a lot of reviews of lower rated and friends who been here for play about his experience. I was kinda worried but it was better than I thought. Pace of the play was a bit slowed, took about 4.8 hrs to complete, fairway and green condition were great to play, but the fairway near side rough is a bit high to hide the balls, even it is right next with fairway. I found more than a dozen of golf ball that are lost by others who passed before me in the rough while I was looking for mine.
It is kinda odd on the 18th hole which is about 400yds and it is par 5, seems like the course designer wanted to make par 72 course on short distance.
Overall, this course is good to play and not expensive than other course which have similar conditions.
