Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Good course
Was supposed to have a 12pm tee time but someone didn't show up so I was pushed out to around 12:45. The staff was great and even offered me free food and beverages. I was paired up with a great bunch of guys and had a great day.
Fairways were in good shape and the greens were super fast.
Overall this is a good course. I had a decent round of 86.
I would recommend this course just because of the staff.
Gone way down hill
Really disappointed and leftover 9 holes.. Played the. course several times; but not in the past 2.5 years. The course has turn into a terrible tract and disappointing experience for golfers. No grass on tee boxes, and very little in the fairways. Sand hazards are half dirt, half sand. The greens remain in good shape and fast. The course looked like it hasn’t been watered for weeks. Pace of play was very slow despite a marshal riding around. I got a hot deal from golf now, but still felt over-charged. I won’t be back.
Great Shape!
The course is in great shape. Fairways are green and greens are fast. Some of the tee boxes need work but overall the course is a keeper.
Not A Fan
The description of the course said that it had come under new ownership in 2008 and improvements have been made. Well, 14 years later and more improvements are definitely needed. The cart paths are atrocious. Several tee boxes were nothing but dirt. Fairways were okay considering they are bermuda and still not grown in for the year. The greens were in great condition and were very fast. Whoever decides where to set the pins apparently thinks everybody who plays the course is a scratch golfer or there is a tournament being played, as many pins were just a 3-4 yards from the edges of the greens. One pin was placed on a slope, just a couple of yards from the edge of the green. NO WAY to stop the ball, it would just roll 10-12 feet past the hole even at a snail's pace. RIDICULOUS! And whoever cuts the holes needs some serious training. Terrible job on a lot of greens. There is no driving range, just two matts off to the side where you hit into a net. Lots of blind shots and trouble, but nothing on the scorecard or at the tee boxes showing the layout of the holes so if you haven't played there previously, you have no idea where the trouble is on several holes. If you are local, maybe it's a good course to play but do NOT make a long drive to play this course. I'll pay more money to play a nicer course closer to where I live.
Great fast greens
Fairways have a little way to go on greening up. Cart paths need a lot of repairs. It would be nice is there was a driving range. However, the greens are in excellent condition, which makes the trip to Bear Creek worth it. We will return.
First time here - met the owners - Great folks
Greens are in very good shape. I understand course is going through some improvements - you can see where the work is going on and it will be very nice. Nice now. Bunkers were nice. Would love to see a ranger to speed up play some. We drove 130 miles to play and will come back. Pro shop and owners are extremely nice. New owners Bought the course about a year ago and are genuine when they ask how you enjoyed your round. Definitely recommend giving this course a try. You will not be disappointed.
Fun play
Course has improved a lot over the last year. It is a fun course to play. Some challenging holes mixed in with some faness holes. Greens in great shape
Bear Creek bargain golf
The price is right considering it was a Friday. Greens are very fast, fairways were ok, tee boxes need some work. Very nice practice putting greens. No driving range. Paid $39 via golf now.
Great hospitality!
Even though it rained many inches the day before we still had a great time playing this course. The hospitality was unbelievable!
The course is awesome. The greens are in really good shape and quick. We were in town for The Masters. Played thirty six holes. Really nice course. Would highly recommend playing. Met the owner of the course. And the gentleman that checked us in was a hoot.
Wet Day…. No Problem!
When I got there the staff greeted me warmly and then told me that it was Cart Path only! I was a little disappointed because I didn’t know how much rain we gotten. But soon found out. There was hardly anyone else out there and pace of play was awesome. By the back nine it had dried out considerably and was easy enough to navigate the wet ares.
The staff there are always helpful and engaging. Will play more as it gets warmer.
