Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Good for the money just needs some work
The signs are a major problem. Need directions to next tee boxes can really be hard to navigate where the next tee boxes are if your not familiar with the courses layout. Really get turned around quickly on which way to go. Fairways have a lot of bad spots to hit from such as rocks and dirt. But all kidding aside not a really bad course for the money. Just need to keep a little more up around the cart paths and fairways. Could really be a nice course with some work
Great greens and value for the money
My friend and I played this course for the first time on 11/24/2020. It was a last minute decision and they appeared to have plenty of times available. For the money, this course is fantastic. The greens are wonderful, fast and true. The layout is a bit tricky, with a few blind shots, and for the first time we didn't have anything to go off for landing areas. However, for the money, it is a great deal. They offer an all you can play $35 flat rate, which in the summer I would take full advantage of it. Pace of play was solid, bunkers weren't too bad either. Also, most tee boxes were in pretty good shape. Overall, if you want a course with really good greens, I would say give it a shot.
Friendliest golf course in the whole area
Every time I play here, it feels like coming home today… It is challenging and beautiful and the staff and ownership are all fantastic people… If you haven’t played here, you need to give it a try!
Decent course, nice greens.
Decent course for the money. Laid out a little different. - Read the signs! Greens are nice.
Need to use every club
This is one of my favorite courses since you have to use every club in your bag. The greens were a little fast, which required precise putting.
BC 10/24
Actually think this is one of the best values in the area. From tee to green fairways are good, rough is fair for players that spray their ball and greens are in excellent condition, oh and the bunkers are nicely raked and unlike some of the local courses I have played recently these have sand and not dirt and rock. Certainly recommend this course.
Friendly Track
Overall this track has always been good to me. Pricing and the openness of the course is great, however there are holes here that will totally wreck your round. Holes 4, 7, 11, and 13 requires your patience and accuracy or you will post a high number. Not to mention holes 2 & 17 can be imitating because of your view on the tee box. This is a course you can get a good score on if you play it multiple times. As for course condition it’s typically in great shape from tee to green. Today the greens were a little fluffy. It’s definitely fun playing here.
No practice range
Course in very bad shape. Many more area places to play. If you are a duffer that never repairs a divot or a ball mark this is your place.
A pleasant surprise
I had not played this course in several years because I had always considered it a second rats course. I booked it because my brother had not played in a while and wanted to play a less challenging course. And the hot deal price was the best I could find for a early morning tee time. I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course. The fairways, greens and bunkers were all in great shape. The greens were a.little slow early but quickened as.the sun dried them out. Cartpaths need some work but that didn't bother me. The one big negative, if you like to hit balls on the practice range before you play, is there is NO practice range. One other negative is there is no starter. We had a foresome and let three twosome's play through. The course was crowded and twosomes should have been combined. I can live without the practice range and I will play here again soon.
Great Value
It's not a plush course if you are about luxury.. It's a community course sort of off the beaten path. But for the price it was a great value and a fun course for an intermediate level group of golfers. Some difficult holes but overall very fair and pretty open. Greens were slow but in good shape. Didn't have to wait to hit on a single shot with a 11:30 Sunday tee time. Downside was no driving range.
Bear Creek
Overall great course, just make sure you know how to hit the ball straight and know which clubs to swing and when, you will lose a lot of balls if not.
