Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Bear Creek
Overall a beautiful, fun and challenging course. The cart path has seen better days in some areas and PLEASE update your directional signs. Easy to take a wrong turn. Had a great time on a nice course.
Course is OK they could keep it looking a little better with mowing and dead grass removal.
Greens were cut very poorly
Bear Creek 7/09
Excellent course, well maintained, fairways very good, greens improving each time I play the course. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Course was Good
Greens were a little slow since they had not been rolled.
Surprised By How Much I Enjoyed This Course
After reading mixed reviews, I arrived a little wary of the experience, especially during COVID 19. But I was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly. Course layout was fun, challenging, but not overly so. Fairways were lush, tee boxes a little worn. Greens were very slow, but rolled true, with some exceptional trouble spots. This is a fairly open course, which lets you grip and rip at times. Some holes however require very accurate targets off the tee. So the course offers a nice variation of challenges. I will be back, despite the hour long drive.
This course's grounds are terrible.
We asked about why the greens are so much worse than they have been and we were told that they don't have the proper lawn mowers to cut them low enough... What? Also the fairways were over grown with weeds. It looked like the grounds have never been treated before. I was pretty disappointed overall today.
Not A Friendly Golf Course
This is not a friendly place to play golf. I finally realize the fact that every time I play there - there is someone always short or condescending or not accommodating. It might be because they don't like golfers using Golfnow or something worse. The only good thing about this place is that it helps me appreciate the fine courtesy I get from all other golf courses.
Not a bad course but....
Nice layout but conditions were not great. $21 for 9 holes is too much
Bear Creek 6/17
Thinking about joining this club. Really do like the course layout, many improvements being made and most greens are in good shape.
Unfriendly staff
Course is fine for what you pay. The problem is the morning staff guy who does not like Golf Now patrons. Even though there were plenty of Carts available, since I booked using Golf Now, he made me ride in a cart with a complete stranger during COVID-19 pandemic.
Bear Creek
The positive was the price. $25 for 18. The course was in ok shape but a lot of patchy areas in the fairways and greens. Very awkward layout. Pretty short even from the back tees. Some 350 yard par 4’s and a couple 175 yard plus par 3’s. Very confusing cart paths with old faded out signage to point you to the next tee box. One time was enough for me but it was an afternoon of golf so that’s a plus.
BearCreek 6/11
Great course, very very friendly staff. Greens looking great and putt true. Fairways were really maintained well. Love the layout. Challenging but fun course.
Yikes
I’ve played this course several times in the last couple of years. It’s always been a subpar but good value course. My latest round, the greens were not cut and rolled. It rolls slower than your typical carpet at home. Fairways and roughs are in OK shape considering the value aspect of it. The gents working the clubhouse are friendly. The cart paths are the worst that I’ve seen and I’ve been to at least 40-50 courses within 60~ miles of Atlanta. We were the first to tee off but generally never had issues with slow pace here. The greens need to be cut and rolled!!!
