Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Oak Forest Course
About
Situated in the heart of Lowcountry, the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation is part of one of the area's oldest plantations. There are 27 holes of golf available at the club, which are divided into three nine-hole courses: Oak Forest, Burn Kill, and Black Robin. Although each golf course has a different character and scenery, they are all dappled with centuries-old live oaks and wetlands. The Oak Forest Course takes its name from the original plantation and has wider fairways than the other two courses. Lush vegetation frames each hole and the classic bunkering embodies the traditional feel of the course. The eighth hole is the signature hole of the entire golf course, distinct for both its scenery and difficulty. Par will be tough on this par 3 with a lake bordering the entire left side.

Excellent experience
Best value in the Charleston area. Quality and course layout comparable to pricy resort or semi private courses. Much better course than the antiquated City of Charleston course.
Great Value, Golf Staff is great
Played the course many times, usually in great condition. Was disappointed as the greens were in poor shape and overall course needs water.
A very nice golf course.
This is a very beautiful and fun golf course to play. There are wide fairways and big greens on this course. The greens putted real well. If you miss the fairway, you may be in the trees as there are plenty of woods on all the holes. The staff was super nice and made us feel really welcome. The clubhouse is one of the nicest and most beautiful I have seen. I will be coming back to play here again in the near future. A very nice country club atmosphere at this course.
Okay at best
Typical crummy municipal course. Overly priced for what you get. Slow grainy unpredictable tiff eagle greens and below average tees and fairways for $50.
The facilty was beautiful!
The clubhouse was amazing...better than most facilities we've seen. The entire place was very clean. The food was decent, but the waitress/bartender had the greatest personality and attitude! The lady who got us our cart & bucket was really great. The course was challenging, but playable for all skill levels. All in all, we highly reccomend the facility for a great day playing golf!!
Bug
Over all great course. If you are looking for tough golf at a great, cost go here!
Play
Course experienced heavy rain the day before. No standing water in fairways and greens were in decent condition for the amount of rain. I enjoyed my experience.
Westcott golf
We enjoyed our round of golf and all of the club personnel we met were very helpful and friendly. We will go back.
Pace of Play was very poor
Almost a 6 hour round - waited on every shot - never saw a ranger. Saw the cart girl a lot though.
Nice layout and the course was in decent shape, but fairways very hard and they need to not cut the grass so close on them as lies are very tight (like hitting off concrete). I started playing for the rough to get a better lie.
friendly locals
Great layout with 3 nine hole courses
Staff was great and being paired up with locals sure did help
Do NOT Play Here in the Afternoon -- Go to Coosaw Creek Golf
I started play at 2:45 behind two groups of two players each. We played at a reasonable pace. Then, I got the SURPRISE! Poised at the 10th tee (my second nine) were four groups of four. Another group was in the fairway and the sixth group was on the green with a seventh group pulling away.
I realized that this had the makings of a 3+ hour round for nine holes. Then, I made a U-turn to the starter to ask what could be done to allow me to continue my round (there are three 9-hole courses at this facility). Her response was: "We have leagues starting every afternoon. You'll just have to play behind them." I was stunned by that response.
I have always thought it was an unwritten rule of good golf course management that: a group continuing its round into a second 9 ALWAYS had priority over a group that was starting on a golf course. At this course, league players always have priority. The league players at this golf course are subordinate only to the abundant insects that want to suck your blood.
The starter offered me no alternative arrangement, such as a partial refund or rain check. I didn't even get an apology. She saw that I intended to leave and made no attempt to make things right.
With regard to this course, it is a very average facility with mediocre to poor conditions. There are no rangers on the course. There is no water on the course and no beverage cart. Michael Hurzdan designed the course. He generally does interesting courses. In this situation, he appears to have been instructed to do a "bare bones" design for the cheapest cost. There are no memorable holes or challenges. The best thing about the design is that there are no houses on the course. The fairways are large, the greens are intermediate in size with minimal break, and the sand traps are largely irrelevant to the challenge of the course.
If you want to play golf in this part of the Charleston area, you should first play Coosaw Creek, which is in the immediate area. Coosaw Creek is a far superior golf course design with better course conditions and greater control of the pace of play.
Best Round for your money
This is my 5th time playing this course and I feel this is the best deal in the area. Get out early and you can finish your round in less than 4 hours. $30 less than C National, River Towne B4 4.. and Dunes West.
First time at Westcott
I was in Charleston visiting friends so we made a Golf Now reservation. Got a good rate and enjoyed the round very much. Greens were hard and quick but rolled well.
Nice day on the course!
I like this course a lot. It can get a little confusing when trying to play 18 with three 9 hole options. It gets tricky when you make the turn and the starter isn't particularly on top of it. It can get backed up. Otherwise, lovely course. Challenging but not ridiculous. Greens are in great shape.
Greens solid!
Great experience...played Burn Kill to Black Robbin. Course was in good shape...greens were Very true. Played the course before---would play again
Overall great
Fun to play and 27 holes is real nice. Really keeps the pace up
Fun course
Really fun course to play a little slow play that day but overall great!
great
I play Wescott all the time, I give it a 5 star, yes I would recommend to other golfer too play there
Phenomenal!
This was my first time here and my father-in-law and I wanted to catch a quick 9 for the day. Staff was absolutely amazing, very inviting and supportive of any needs or questions! I also judge a course by the company kept there, the other players were also very laid back and relaxed. Nobody was in a rush and all were there to just have a fun Saturday golf outting! Couldn't have had a better first round in SC!
