A great way to spend a Saturday...
Fairways were a bit brown (Maybe due to dormant grass) on the front and much better on the back. Greens were in very good shape and rolled very true. Putting was actually fun! Front nine played a bit shorter because your ball tends to roll after your drive. The back nine is in great shape and a good test of anyone's game. I was very lucky because I had a great 4some, a pretty quick round (only waiting on the 10 Tee because the group ahead stopped to grab a bite at the turn) and shot a good score. There isn't a more beautiful scene than hitting a solid drive between the trees on 13 and watching your ball settle in the middle of the fairway! For the average golfer it doesn't get any better than that!
The course is challenging from tee to green and course is well maintained especially the greens. .
First time I played this course so I found it to be challenging but fun. The greens are fast and undulation could have you 3 putting if you don't focus. I found the back nine to be a bit more difficult than the front nine. The course has some water hazards, a few holes are narrow, and some holes you have to watch out for the trees. There are many facets to the course which I appreciate. The par 3 holes either have water hazards, or bushes from what I can remember so no room for error. I will play this course a few more times.
The greens were in good shape!
I'm very happy with the value of this course but there need to be some changes in the near future if they want to be considered anything more than an average course. First of all, a club house would be great along with a restaurant...a snack bar at least. The coolers with assorted beverages and pre-made 1/2 sandwiches just don't cut it. This is my second time here and they have worked on it each time (aerating the fairways or the tee boxes) but that's fine because at least I know they are taking care of it. However, those of us that play this course need to do a better job of repairing our divots on the greens. The practice green was so much better than the greens on the course and they should be somewhat similar. Otherwise, perfect weather...great day!
Back 9 very private and picturesque.
Golf course has been recently aquired by new owners who have stated that the course and facilities will be upgraded. Looking
forward.
Good value
Played here on a Monday afternoon. Some of the fairways and tees need a little work but the greens were well maintained. We did not see a soul the whole time we were there. Takes some of the pressure of someone waiting behind you.
Its ok
The course is on the dry side and that takes away from the potential beauty. The design is ok with some tight holes with hazards all the way down the hole. The greens need a little work and were soft from water as compared to the dry fairways. The back nine is toguher than the front. This course was 35 minutes away for us and we won't return to play but glad we experienced it once.
this course is very challenging
I have been playing there since the opening of this course and I really enjoy it,and will play it again and again.
I really like this course
Woods Valley it is nestled in the sage and oaks. Most holes have different play strategies depending on how far you drive the ball. A couple of risk-reward holes really make you think. The only negative is a couple of the greens were sub-par; i blame it on the drought as most of the usually full lakes are very low and the creek beds are dry. The price is very fair and I believe one of the underrated courses in San Diego. In regards to distance, even though it is officially in Valley Center, it only takes me a little more than 20 minutes to get there from Poway.
very enjoyable
We booked a tee time not knowing exactly what to expect. Hadn't heard to much about the course. What a pleasant surprise.
Beautiful setting, some challenging narrow holes
This course is very interesting with a variety of challenges. The setting is, at times, nothing short of inspiring, especially the middle holes on the back nine. The one factor keeping this from four stars is that the greens have a high incidence of ball marks that haven't been repaired properly. In many places this affects the roll of putts.
Very senic
Enjoyed the round. Greens in good shape, fairways are open. Course has personality.
Nice place, in the middle of nowhere...
Great value for money......front nine and back nine are 2 completely different animals....front is nice, normal, back nine is a lot of target golf with hidden troubles......enjoyed very much tho....
Good golf course/ Good shape and green fees very reasonable.
If you play here, bring your own food. There is no facility to obtain something to eat after the turn. I had a " Hot Dog" for four dollars that was kept in a bun warmer behind the check -in desk. Don't eat it............................Worse I've ever seen. The management ought to be ashamed .
Pretty Good Value
The course has a pretty good track and is not too long. I usually enjoy the course, conditions are usually pretty good. The worse thing going against it is the location, and it can get really hot, but that is probably what also drives the prices down. Usually you can score pretty well here, unless your shot is way off you may earn some "out of bounds" penalty strokes. You hit off decent grass at the range, although the range itself is pretty brown. The cart paths alternate between concrete and gravel/dirt - perhaps giving it a little bit of a Valley Center rustic vibe? They don't have ball washers at the tee box, but some golf carts have built-in ball washers (not all). No clubhouse and the pro shop is pretty much bare bones right now (no merchandise).
Love this course
Started at 6;30 am just one group ahead of us and we we're
done by 10:30 am.
Awesome Staff/Great Course
I love this golf course!!! Great deal for the money and the staff always treats you well. I would recommend this course to others great layout.
Keep it in the fairway
Challenging fun coarse. As long as you can keep it in the fairway you will be fine. The only issue with the coarse if that the carts were a little beat up and there were no ball cleaners at any of the holes. For as hot it is in Valley Center the couarse was really green and pretty well kept up. Greens were is great shape.
Course is challenging but fair. Tee boxes are set up for all player abilties, which makes it fun for all.
Hadn't played Woods Valley for some time, and I was a bit concerned that the course was "beaten up" due to the heat the past couple of weeks. But to my surprise, the course was in great shape. Greens were especially good with consistent speed throughout. On-line reservations made it easy to reserve a time. Great value for the price. I would definitely recommend this course to my friends.
Enjoyable course!
Nice open layout, good long holes, good conditions, not crowded, friendly staff, good walk up rates, rainbows and unicorns!
course fun to play
course in good shape. Greens were fantastic. Back 9 was very scenic.
One thing I forgot to mention, I have been stuck behind "fivesomes" twice for this course. Most courses will not allow it, but they do. When that happens, it is very frustrating and the pace really slows down. Beware!
