About
Located in Gainesville, Chicopee Woods Golf Course is one of the area's most popular public courses. The 27-hole layout is divided intro three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The nines, the Village, the School, and the Mill, share a beautiful rolling landscape provided by the surrounding foothills of the Appalachians. The School nine is the second longest of the three. Water comes into play on four holes, more than on any of the other nines. The course finishes with a memorable water hole. The par-5 ninth hole has two ponds that wrap around the green. Besides the water, you'll also have strategically placed bunkers to contend with. There are many challenging holes at Chicopee Woods G.C., but none of the courses are overly punishing for high handicappers.

Enjoyable Round
First time out this year so expectations were low!
Very nice layout. Still growing in and greening up.
Overall decent shape. Greens were good.
Another month of good weather and this track will be on point.
Worst i’ve ever seen chicopee. Fairways are a dirt track and pace of play is just under 3 hour for 9. 27 holes and you’d think they can plan tee times accordingly but i guess that’s not the case.

Avoid this course at all costs. Pace of play is ridiculous, they have 27 holes and still can’t manage to properly set up tee times. Each 9 took just about 3 hours alone. Fairways are a dirt track but greens are somewhat decent. Not worth the money.

Impressed
Extremely impressed with Chicopee. Course is in really good condition coming out of winter conditions, fairways greening up, tee boxes in good shape, greens looking good; best conditions I have played this year by far. Staff was excellent and rangers did a great job of people staying on pace. Will certainly be back and thank you for a great round.

Well maintained with great features

Paid to wait 6 hours for walking high schoolers
Horrible planing, stuff doesnt care at best. Not fair to pay and wait on a course full or people walking. If you have 6 hours for a round then be my guest!

I play here weekly and I enjoy the three sets of nine holes so you occasionally get a bit different experience .
The greens are in great shape and looking forward to the fairways and tee boxes improving as the weather warms.

Great Staff! Great Facilities
Chicopee has a great staff to help you find everything and get you playing! The practice facilities are some of the best in the area and the courses are always in good condition.

Very nice public course
This is one of the better public courses you will find in North Georgia. The often full parking lot is evidence of this! The staff is efficient and friendly. In the past two years, they have spent a lot of money on grounds maintenance, new rest rooms on the course (that are kept clean), thining out the woods, and new plantings.
And they have added GPS devices to the carts, which in addition to helping with distances, they have a “pace of play” indicator.
The whole course is up and down and sideways throughout. Very challenging in that most times there is some form of other than flat stance to deal with. A driver on a Par 5 isn’t an automatic. The fairways vary. Some are very tight others wide open. There are holes you’ll have a serious live/hate relationship with.
Despite the heavy play, even through the winter, the greens are in pretty good condition. Note to some of my fellow golfers: you can thank me for repairing your ball marks.
There are several tee boxes for each level of play. Tee boxes are a weakness. The large volume of play in the past few years are taking their toll. They need work. So do the sand traps which can be inconsistent. There are ample number of rakes for the players to use after playing from the trap.
My favorite hole is #1 Mill, a wide open, downhill par 5. It can be eagle’d or tripled. The least liked hole there is #6 School; that tiered green is inappropriate for hole like this. The approach is very difficult and with the cart path restrictions the hole plays very slow already.
But overall, this is a fun course that plays in 4.5 hours.
