Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine
About
Located in Gainesville, Chicopee Woods Golf Course is one of the area's most popular public courses. The 27-hole layout is divided intro three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The nines, the Village, the School, and the Mill, share a beautiful rolling landscape provided by the surrounding foothills of the Appalachians. The School nine is the second longest of the three. Water comes into play on four holes, more than on any of the other nines. The course finishes with a memorable water hole. The par-5 ninth hole has two ponds that wrap around the green. Besides the water, you'll also have strategically placed bunkers to contend with. There are many challenging holes at Chicopee Woods G.C., but none of the courses are overly punishing for high handicappers.

Same review as always.
Nice course. Good shape. Challenging. HOWEVER, pace of play always slow as course management stacks tee time TOO close!! It should be about the golfers experience first and foremost secondary to making more money. And, this is not a one day issue. It’s anytime you play here. Unfortunate, as such a nice course and, remedy is two folded. Widen tee time spread. Add a marshal who actually does something about pace of play. Needs no capital expenditure.
The Best Golf Course in NE Georgia
After golfing around the area, I kept hearing from everyone that I had to play Chicopee. Well, I finally did—and wow, it did not disappoint! The course is absolutely beautiful and incredibly well-maintained. The flowers and general foliage makes you really appreciate the course. The greens were a great size, rolled true, and were in excellent condition. Honestly, everything about the course was spotless.
The staff were super friendly, and the food was both affordable and decent. They mentioned they’re updating their clubhouse next, which is exciting. My only tiny thing is that they don’t serve hard liquor—just beer. NOT A DEAL breaker just letting you all know.
Highly recommend giving Chicopee a try if you haven’t already!
Great public course with 27 Holes
The bad - we went on Christmas Eve, so it was crowded and they had a morning frost delay, so tee times were pushed back.
The good - the staff handled the delays very well! Jimmy the starter was on top of things with timely information, so we went to the top-of-the-line practice facility and hit balls for about an hour. Once on the course, we MOVED! I thought we were gonna be waiting forever at tee boxes. Nope! Pace of play was awesome.
The great - the practice facility. Wow!! Plenty of spots at the range, and they have a separate chipping green, a sand green, and a putting green, all with a nearby snack bar and sitting areas. It’s impressive.
We’ll definitely be back to play all three 9s.
