Anderson Creek Golf Club
About
When Anderson Creek Golf Club first opened in 2001 it was immediately recognized as the "Best New Golf Course in North Carolina." The course was designed by 1997 PGA Championship winner Davis Love III, it was his first signature design in North Carolina. It has a traditional layout that epitomizes golf in the Carolina Sandhills. The layout features rolling emerald fairways lined with towering pines and undulating greens bordered by large roll-off areas, a tribute to the classic Donald Ross designs that are prevalent in the Sandhills. The challenging golf course has tricky doglegs and there are a variety of elevation changes throughout. Water comes into play on a few holes at Anderson Creek Golf Club, most memorably though on the par-3 fourth, which demands a carry over a large lake. Strategically placed bunkers also lurk along the greensides.

New Greens are prestine
New greens since reopening are divine. Some of the best i have played.
Great track. Fair off the tee but challenging on approach. Greens received and rolled great.
Challenging Course
One of the more challenging courses in the area. Excellent greens, fast and the hole placement was challenging but not impossible. Pace of play was excellent on a weekend with all the tee times filled. There are some areas where a shank will cost you a ball, but that's what golf is about. There were a few areas that were water soaked, an a few 90 degree rules, but overall, course is in great shape. Btw, they provide plenty of sand, golfers can help by filling their divots in the fairway, it helps keep this course enjoyable for everyone. Only disappointing thing is there should be a way for some refreshments on the turn, bottled water, something. Great course, fun play, bring your own water.
Great! New greens!
First time we’ve been back since they put in the new greens and we had a great game. The grill was being redone by a new company that took it over so it was closed for lunch but the course itself was very nice.
Great shape!
ACC is in the best shape I’ve seen in the 5 years I’ve been down here. The new greens and tee boxes are incredible and very true. Would definitely recommend getting out there before the end of the season, especially on the several hot deals each weekend. Great work over the summer shutdown!
OK
Had a Sunday afternoon tee time (2:30 pm). No ranger or starter in sight with groups of 4, 2 and a single walker all teeing off within 10 minutes of one another. We did somehow finish the round in 4 hours and 10 minutes, however there was a stretch of holes with 3 groups backed up at the tee boxes. The course conditions of have deteriorated since I last played about 2 years ago. The greens rolled true but the fairways and short game areas around the green had LOTS of bare spots and wash out areas that limited your shot making.
Not as good as once was
The course just isn’t maintained as it once was. I played last fall as well as this spring and both times there were weeds and bare spots in the fairway specifically around the greens and traps. If you receive a bargain price ( key word bargain) play, because it still has a nice And playable layout for all skill levels. But I wouldn’t pay list price until more is invested in quality improvements.
Great course if you have 6 hours to kill as a single
Course is in pretty good shape, greens look good but have a ton of ball marks because no one repairs the pitch marks. I have played here quite a few times and the course itself is always in good shape and the staff is very nice but it takes so long to play. I have never teed off on time and always play behind atleast two foursomes with no one in front of them and no play through or behind walkers playing two balls. The second time I played this course I this course I played behind a six players all in one group, and I left after I played one hole waited almost 20 minutes to get to the second tee box, then waited another 20 minutes for them to be a manageable distance. If you plan on spending all day at the course this is a good spot if you want to play your round and leave, id look elsewhere
Lovely nice course
We played today on this nice course. Beautiful situated between the houses on this resort. Challenging par 3’s and some very long par 4’s. We’ll sure visit this course again when we stay in Fayetteville.
Still a good course
Love this layout haven’t been to AC in about 6-7 years the weather sucks right now (Average below 50 temps cloudy and rain) but you can tell the grass and overall condition have been kept up, it will be great in a month or two! The greens rolled nice and the bunkers have plenty of sand even in winter conditions, always a good day at the creek!
Anderdon Creek
Course at one point in time was probably an outstanding course. Layout is challenging but many areas marked GUR and other areas in need of significant attention. Greens damaged in many areas with weed grasses around fringe.
Great course, challenging layout
The course is tough, but the fairways are wide enough to make it fair. Greens can be very fast if above the hole. Beautiful layout, scenery. Staff was very nice.
Great Layout
Anytime I break 80 on any course is a great day! The staff was very personable and engaged in some conversation! The Clubhouse was 5 Star, but I didn't get a chance to eat there, but they were busy when I finished my round.
I am old school and a very observant of course conditions. I really loved the layout, good for faders and drawers! The greens rolled really nice, because I made alot of one putts, "smiling". However, I wish golfers would fix there ball marks. A few bad spots on the fairways that I would like to see filled in better, but it is the Sandhills. I played a course back in the day, where they would have a kid go around the course and just fix ball marks on the greens, I think that is what all courses should adopt. Heck, I may even do it for some free golf. I will return!
Great course for the price
First time at the course that I have heard good things about.
The layout was great. The greens were a little damaged, but ok. If they fixed the greens, it could be an awesome course. Great variety of long and short holes, fairways are wide and giving. NIce bunkering. There is a a couple of water holes, but I don't remember them coming into play. I will probably play it again.
