Golfer Reviews
lotta work to be done to be top rate playing conditions
greens, greens, greens.....work on the greens,,,over seed the fairways..cover roots with pine needles..small price to pay to have great reviews..greens need to be over seeded , cut ,m and rolled..was like putting on ripples potato chips
Greens, what greens?
There was little grass on any of the greens. One 9 was closed for “green repair”. They need to shut down for two months until they can recover or sod their greens and then reopen.
The course and tee time booking resources should notify customers of issues like these prior to confirming tee times. I would assume, like most other customers, that a course with green/cart fees greater than $35 would have grass on their greens, not painted sand.
Bad Greens/ Bad Customer Service
Before we went out the starter told us that the greens on the course were in good shape. After playing 3 holes on the sand course then we knew that he had not told us the truth. Most of the greens were mostly dirt painted green. When we played the other nine those greens were even worse then the first nine. When we finished we tried to talk with the guy working behind the counter and he did not want to hear what I had to say. I run a golf course in NC and I have told my employees to always tell the truth about the course condition or if someone is not happen with something lets make it right. We were not offered a refund or raincheck to come back when the course was in better shape. The employee behind the counter did nothing to make us feel better about our bad experience. I had my 17 years old son with me and I felt bad that he had to see these conditions and also the bad customer service at Sandpiper bay.
Spr golf
Course in fair conditions. Greens were not so good mostly painted sand. A few with grass. I think the ice storm hurt the greens as other courses have this problem. I played here earlier and did not have this problem
Happy Easter
A few nice days with warm temps has started the Bermuda roughs to show signs of life. Course is coming along nicely. Greens rolled very true with good pace. We'll be back!
NO GRASS
I was very disappointed with this course.I have played it in the past and conditions were good. I read the reviews and couldn't believe it. Now I realize why I only paid $19. Truthfully it was worth $5. Total waster of time. NO Grass on the fairways and no grass on the greens.
April 1 night mare
Greens had no grass fairways had very little grass
Great Course, Conditions Suffering
The course was hit very hard by the winter conditions, and the grounds crew were not manage to save the greens. They were mostly sand covered to fill in the bumps. Overall, the course layout and character was great!
Winter frost killed the fairways
The winter weather killed the farway grass and the greens were hit with frost that made it a little bumpy.
Frost damage to fairways and greens
Unseasonably cold weather and frost killed the fairways and damaged the usually great greens. The Bay nine was closed due to damage. The other two nines were playable, but rough.
It was Ok
Was not happy with the conditions of the greens. It looks like were cover with something , hard and very fast. No grass on most of them.
Sandpaper Bay needs some good weather
Play this course every year on vacation. It has had a hard winter but usually is in good condition. It should recover when weather warms up.
Disappointed
Grass? Big lack of on fairways, greens fair ...overpriced for condition
The worst golf experience of my life
Our tee time was at 12:49. We hit our first ball at 13:15. We waited 3 to 7 minutes for each hole. The teebox, fairway and green are in very bad condition; no grass at all in the fairway, the greens are painted green, everywhere you look at is yellow and dry. We gave up after 16 holes, tired of constantly waiting. To avoid at all costs!
Tee times start at 1 in the afternoon. If you read the reviews why did you play this course?
Overbooked and greens lousy.
Had a 1:41 tee time, got there place was obviously overbooked. People all over the place waiting to start. Got on course at 2:05. The first green we got on was in awful shape. Seemed to have 2 types of grass trying to grow on it. The worst part was they seemed to have rolled the green over and over so that the surface didn’t even look or feel like grass. More like a hard cardboard! This pattern continued for the full 18 greens! Finished playing 5 hours later. Too bad this was a nice course.
Good Course
Enjoyable lay out. Conditions not as good as in past
Terribe greens and fairway
I am sorry to say the greens were the worst I have every played on in my life. The others in my foursome totally agreed. It was like putting on cement with green powder on them. Could not determine how the putts would roll. Putted it and hoped. No grass on the greens and very little in the fairways. Our foursome was hoping to be in the rough where some grass existed. The best looking grass at the course was in front of the clubhouse as you drove up to drop your bags off. Immaculate. The fringes around the greens had decent grass. Other than that, the grass was nonexistent on the greens and fairways. One of the first courses I played in Myrtle Beach 20 years ago. I was told about the course by a friend who said it was his favorite course in Myrtle Beach. I played once since. Both times I would rank this on my top five. No more. Now it is in my bottom five.
Great Staff and Wonderfully Organized
Was a very good day at the course. The staff was outstanding treating us as treasured clients. So very organized but not militant or rude ever in their manners... A wonderful bunch and the course was fine . The greens were good and the fairways were recovering from tough winter and for March were in good shape
From Head Golf Professional
Thank you for the kind words and understating. We expect conditions to green up around Easter. We pride ourselves on our friendly staff and courtesy. Hope to see you back soon.

Never play
Golfnow should drop this course from the list. It was the worst course ever. They painted the greens and the fairways. They were mud.
If this course is this bad and you read the reviews, why do you still play it????
What golf course do you work at?
