Edgewater Golf Club

Edgewater GC is in the midst of a transformation from a very good out in the sticks golf course to a great out in the sticks golf course. They are adding a brand new Pro Shop and Club House as well as a new practice facility including a complete redesign of their driving range.

They are also improving their already challenging course with improved tee boxes and fairways. Their greens are some of the most challenging greens in the greater Charlotte area.

All of this with the best pricing for recreational golf enthusiasts. The staff is top notch as are all the Edgewater GC personnel.

Edgewater is a beautiful course. Absolutely LOVE the elevations built into the design.

First time playing here this year. WOW, have they upgrade all over the course. With added homes, several holes have a different view to them. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Got to be the 1st out and my twosome finished in 3 hours. Throroughly enjoyed the round. And played my best in 2 yrs.

Brought a guest from Fla who belongs to an exclusive private course. He really enjoyed the experience. Tks ⛳️

Overall:

Typically play here several times a year. Course can challenging and requires shot placing off multiple tees, which makes for a fun round. However, it can slow things down if you have a bunch of people who are unfamiliar with the course. Still a good course I’d highly recommend playing if you have a chance.

Pace:

Slow (4hr 52 min) with things backed up at the start and teeing off 5 min or so late, but kudos to the ranger who was going around and keeping things moving as best as he could. (It’s also a weekend round, so unfortunately this is typical at most public/semi-private courses around Charlotte.)

Staff:

Always friendly and great.

Facilities/Amenities:

New clubhouse and updated range under construction so current range is a small makeshift option, but it’s still open. A little overused/hitting off sand and a little grass, but the new one when open will be fantastic. (Only recommendation would be for them to get rid of the table of product in the current clubhouse. It’s difficult to move around when multiple groups are trying to get checked in, but I’m sure this will be fixed when they open the new clubhouse and some of it is stocking extra inventory until then.)

Course:

In good shape heading into peak season. Greens were a little long with all the rain, but they’re still a little quick and rolling well. (The length is probably needed to help get through the season with how popular the course has become over the years.) Only thing our group had a complaint about were some of the bunkers being overfilled in certain areas to the point of causing a lost ball in our group on a par 3 and not even able to get footing to rake. (Multiple bunkers were left unraked by other groups likely due to issues with even getting footing in some of them.) Easier said than done, but be sure to avoid the bunkers.

They have let it go / sad because I like the course greens not great t box nest up hard as a rock

Will not go back for awhile

After playing several public golf courses within 30 miles of Charlotte recently, I developed a certain set of expectations for subpar course conditions. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the very good course conditions including fairways and greens. Edgewater is in much better shape that its competitors. This is my second time playing the course and the layout is very good for golfers of differing abilities. I couldn't give it 5 stars overall due to the current construction and poor driving range conditions. I suspect these will improve once construction is complete. I will definitely return.

Welcome to Edge Water! This course offers a lot. I can always count on a top notch round. Thanks to the ground crew. There has been so much rain. I can always count on consistent greens and friendly staff. I’m always pleased and my First choice to play Golf. I was paired up this time. I’m grateful to the staff for a great match up. Thanks, I highly recommend this course. Challenging and the pace of play is excellent . Totally a professional organization. 👍💪

Very impressed with Edgewater.

This was a halfway point for me out of CAE and my buddy from CLT. Couldn’t be more impressed with the course, facilities and staff.

Service was top notch. A golf cart was delivered to me in the parking lot and check-in was a breeze. Only saw the cart girl at the turn. Would’ve been nice to have her come by at least once more while out on the course.

Range and putting green are conveniently located near the first tee.

Residential construction is ongoing and the development has great potential.

I look forward to visiting Edgewater more often.
