Laurel Hill Golf Club
About
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

Hole 16, Par 3, 185 yards Photo submitted by EthanZimman on 06/17/2013
tough course,
very fair couse, pro quailty, bring a few golf balls.wide open fairways, very tough approch shots. greens large and sloping. a true test of golf.
Great track
A hidden gem. I am certain that becasue it is a muni, it doesn't get teh recognition it deserves. Don't be fooled ... great track. Almost impossible to get on weekends ... GolfNow helped that this weekend!
Best public course in the area
Pace of play always fast. Great greens. A bit expensive for a public course but better than many private courses in the area
Best public course I have played in 55 years
Great grass, layout, holes. Terrific. Played in rain, super drainage. Excellent green, rolling hills
Excellent Condition and Layout!
Laurel Hill is a challenging and well-kept course fairly close to downtown Washington, DC. It is a long course (seems to play longer than 6,750 yards from the blue tees) but is fair and honest. Pace of play was excellent and staff very helpful. Greens were fairly smooth and relatively quick for the middle of winter. When running fast, downhill putts can be very difficult and proper placement of approach shots is essential to shooting a good score.
Wonderful day
The pace of play was wonderful. The golf course was in great shape. It was 70 degrees in December. It doesn't get any better.
Nice, challenging links-style course
This is a wonderful course to play and is even better when you get GolfNow deals below $50. It is a little pricey during the normal season when weekend fees are $100+.
The course in maintained very well and the greens are always super fast. I will always come back to Laurel Hills when the price is $75 or below.
I was surprised at the size of the landing areas of the fairways.
Great value thru Golfnow. The greens were very challenging.
The range with both turf and mats is a big plus.
Well maintained and great for all players.
Challanging and well maintained. Well layed out course with all items maintained like cart path, ball washers, carts, practice range, tee boxes, fairways and greens. Play this course and you'll want to return.
Great course, great value, great time
It was cold and windy but it didn't matter. From the tee box to the greens the course was in pristine condition. You would have never known it was fall, not a leaf in sight on the course. Greens rolled fast and true like they should, traps were groomed with bright white sand giving the course a nice visual contrast. I took a novice golfer and he was blown away by this course. We'll be sure to come back on a day where mother nature is more agreeable, but even the elements didn't take away from our great time. I've played over two hundred courses and the layout and consistent quality of this course ranks right up there with any other. Highly recommended
The course was in great shape, as usual.
It was a rather cold day and few people were on the course. The starter let us go off 30 minutes before our tee time. Good thing, because we would have been finishing in the dark. Not because of being held up by people in front of us. It is just a challenging course and takes a full 4 hours to play.
Fast greens and well cut fairways for this time of the year.
I must admit this course was everything that I expected it to be. I can understand why they charge as much as they do for a regular round because of the overall excellence. My only problem was that I was a single and had a group four in front of me all the way through the back nine and they never let me play through even though I was waiting on six of the tee off boxes for them to tee off. I was in a rush to get to a meeting afterwards and I didn't have time to stop in the pro shop.
The course was in great condition.
The course is in great condition but the price is usually a little pricey.I got a good deal on Golf now.I do not think I would play at the usual price they are asking.I am a retired person and do not have the money that they are asking to play that course. The rates for seniors are even higher than most places I play. Also, the age for seniors are even higher than most places I know.I play alot of golf and I think they can get more people playing that course if the price were lower as well as the age for seniors to play there...
Great shape great challange great value
Free range balls, separate chipping putting practice greens.2 minutes from the Lorton exit on 95
Make sure you make this a 'course in regulation'
This course was HIGHLY recomended by a couple of friends. They were correct. First time going to this course. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Really nice golfing experience all around. They have done a great job and this is a very worthwhile local place to play.
Tough course, plays long.
One of my favorites. A bit expensive unless you get a deal. Some of the staff could be a bit more friendly but, overall a great place for a challenging round.
