About
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

Awesome course and staff!
I booked this course when I found an open spot in the afternoon, as it’s usually very difficult bfind tee times to play. Later a friend joined and the staff at the pro shop accommodated us by moving us to the same tee times. The course is in great shape, and arguably the best course in Fairfax!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a beautiful course
An awesome golf course and always is in such a great shape. Course crew do an amazing job. Except one staff member everyone else is friendly and professional.
Could be good, but hugely disappointing
The course was incredibly soggy, significantly harming the quality of play and consistency of fairways and greens. Some very muddy sections, too, and caked bunkers as well. But we haven't had any rain in over 2 weeks, so this was entirely self-inflicted through poor course management/greenskeeping and awful drainage infrastructure. Otherwise this could be a great place to play, but in this condition even on a beautiful day with no recent rain made this course incredibly overpriced.
Great course but
5.5 hour round..no Marshalls no help from staff
Why do we have membership for a municipal course???
Ridiculous you can’t get a time at a public funded course without going on golf

A great layout
Got a good deal and enjoyed playing on a beautiful afternoon. Cours conditions were very good but the rough was extremely penal. So much rain they haven’t had a chance to mow.
Nice day cart path only
This is an excellent course. Long from any tee box. Great condition. However it was cart path only which increased playing time. Long walks to and from the cart. I plan on playing again- on a dry day.
Laurel hill
Course was over watered. There was no rain and the course was a swamp. Not worth $119 on a weekend
Course aeration
The course was aeration 2 days before I t-off. I wish the management tell me in advance before I book.
Play the appropriate tee box if you want to enjoy your round
Great course. Great layout! However…the course plays about 350 yards longer than what the scorecard reads due to numerous significant uphill shots. Play one tee box less than you normally do if you want to post a normal score.
