Black Mountain Golf & Country Club

Found the staff to be very friendly. The golf course is fine for a wintertime course. No rye overseeding so not green as some, but very playable. Greens are firm and fast. Very challenging around the greens. Played twice and first time was rather long. Second time was about 4 hour round. Very enjoyable round of golf. Thanks Black Mountain for an enjoyable round of golf.

Best part was the price - $29 for 18 holes, cart, and lunch. Course in fair shape for winter - fairway grass dead (other Vegas courses are green), greens thin/fast, bunkers in descent shape. Noon tee time, but teed off about 12:30 pm. Not bad for a busy day, but the starter didn't even know which group was the noon tee time. Pace of play on front 9 was terrible - 2.5 hrs. Back 9 was much better, but played the last hole in low light.

The fairways are dead. The greens are nice. The cheap prices gets all of us deal seekers to buy in so the pace is HORRIBLE. Because of the crowds. The members are also packed In there.

I was very disappointed. Which very rarely happens.

Beware that it is very affordable but the price reflects the quality.

PS. Staff was nice.

the attendant inside the pro shop must have had a bad morning. His scowl was off putting to start.His communication skills were not apparent. there was a group of 6 elderly women sent out, four in carts with 2 walking. We skipped number to move ahead of this group. The nice wide fairways lend themselves to intermediate players. It is also easy to find your ball on a wayward shot. the greens were dry, very difficult to hold a shot even with a lofted club. putting required a good touch. after the round, there were no tables or chairs set up for outdoor seating. I drove 40 miles to play this course. My friends and I were disappointed.

They didn't overseed so the fairways are dead and the greens are like putting on a pool table.

We quit after 6 holes because of the condition of the course. We had never done this in the past but the course was in such bad conditions you didn't know the fairway from the greens. Worst course I had ever played and promise never to return !!! A cow pasture would be better !!! Or maybe that's what we where playing on !!!

This is one of my favorite course's . The staff is good , and no matter how crowded you get done in 4 hours

I've played here about 10 times over the past year. The course used to be bad about 7 years ago but has improved a lot.

For my recent round, they told me they don't overseed anymore to save water. So the fairways and spots in the roughs are brown dormant bermuda. This has been a great plan because when I played in the summer the bermuda was lush and green. Now its not pretty to look at but still plays well and you get an extra 20 yds of roll with the dormant fairways. Rough is down as well with all the cart traffic. Its interesting to read previous reviewers who don't seem to understand brown is ok on a golf course. Living in the SW we haven't had a normal rainfall/snow pack in several years.

The greens are small in size and hard to hit, and they are putting very quick, maybe around 11 on a stimpmeter. Unfortunately, and this is seen on a lot of golf courses, golfers are NOT fixing their ballmarks so they are evident here during the winter. Ball still rolls good. Fix your ballmarks people!!!!

Traps need to be renovated as the sand is not good. Other than that, great value at $30.

Black Mountain has a layout that could be fun, but it has seen a LOT of traffic and needs some TLC to rejuvenate it.
The Fairways are very dry, hard-pack with several types of grass...some green, mostly brown. Greens were in good shape and the course's major defense. The greens are consistent, but hard to read...they make you work. Tee boxes are uneven and chewed up. They need work.
In general, the course needs water, fertilizer and TLC to make it truly worth the money or the drive to get there. Given the care, it would be a fun track to work on your game.

Fairways had been chemically sprayed light green, otherwise the fairways would have been primarily brown with some strange grasses throughout.
Greens were very fast and domed on occasion. Did putt off green several times.
Bunkers were a challenge due to lack of sand and small pebbles.
Beer from beverage cart was only $2.

They have basically stopped watering, so fairways very hard and dry. Not worth the money and won't go back this year.

I know it's November, but had I not gotten a smokin' hot deal as a single on golfnow, I would have been very disappointed with this course. Average at best.

I was paired up with a couple and we had a great time together. the course was in good shape considering the time of year. the staff was excellent and great time being here.

Awesome course condition even after a heavy morning rain, challenging greens, Awesome views, great staff, rented two sets of new Callaway XR clubs a men & women for only $25 a set. Did I mention it's an AWESOME course, if your staying in Vegas it's only 20 minutes south and well worth the drive. I plan to play it again. Thank You to the staff you made our trip.

This is a great course. Challenging and fun. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Las Vegas. It is a great value.

The course was in good shape, the staff was very friendly and I was paired up with some fun people.
My only complaint would be the pace of play. It seemed very slow. Over 4 hours to complete.

Good classic layout, course was in nice shape. All that goes out the window when you are waiting 10 mns to hit every shot. They were putting singles out in between a men's league and a tournament. Course should have been closed to public play. I gave up after hole 13.

He course was in great condition and managed really well, this is an older course but maintained in great condition

Beautiful course, I'll play it again. It was in good condition, I just never saw a beverage cart on the course.
