The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Amazing
Very clean conditions great, green rolling pure. Loved the layout overall a great course!!
Great courses
One of the best courses in the area! You won’t be disappointed.
Enjoyable
Returning regularly to Viniterra. Fun course and always good when paired up with new groups. Pace of play wasn't great but it was Columbus Day, so likely some holiday golfers on the course. Overall condition good,
Haven't been in a while
It was really nice to get out to viniterra today I hadn't been there in a while. I really like the course I've played it a lot and when I got there there was a big tournament leaving I thought it was a bad thing at first but then I realized it was a good thing I got to go off the back nine to which used to be the front nine so I like that better I like starting off on 10 better than I do on one. the course is very fair if you're playing well it will reward you if you're playing crappy you can get screwed really easy I played well on the front nine I couldn't do any wrong and then on the back man I screwed up but it's okay I had a great time the folks there are really nice the new Clubhouse is really nice and all the amenities and food are always great they're really nice club
This is a challenging course and I would not recommend it to someone who struggles to shoot bogey golf. Even the shorter tee boxes would be challenging for a high handicap golfer.
Great layout and beautifully maintained
Overall course conditions are excellent. Greens held well and putts rolled true. Great value!
Beautiful layout, BUT....
Specifically asked clubhouse attendant if layout was straight forward and if I'd find my way around since it was my first time there. Thought it weird my garmin gps didn't work the whole front nine, and it didn't seem it would work on back. Went inside again and asked if by chance the 9s were switched. He goes oh yeah. I just turned and said sarcastically that it would've been good to know that up front, especially since I asked about the layout. Then, after passing a few groups since i was playing as a single, I came across a group of 7 people on 14 in about 4 carts. Standing with clipboards doing some measuring and not overly concerned paying golfers were wanting to go by. I drove up and asked if I could go by them as I was playing very quickly. He seemed irritated that he had to let me go thru so I wouldn't have to wait behind them for my remaining 5 holes while they did their laser measuring. By the time I got to the green, I just picked up my ball and went around them. Needless to say, I won't come back here. I'll head to Royal New Kent next time I drive out from Richmond. It is a very pretty track tho. But the staff both in the clubhouse and on the course were NOT welcoming or accommodating at all making it a less than enjoyable round. The members on the course were all very personable however and had no problems letting a single play thru even when I said I'd be fine hanging back.
Wonderful course
Played on a perfect Thursday morning. Course is in great shape and with the course to yourself, a really enjoyable round.
Nice course. Moderately forgiving.
First time I played the course. Just picking the game back up, so I cant claim to be an outstanding ball striker. For a woods course it is moderately forgiving. Fairway bunkers were in play for most of my tee shots, from the blue tees. As I get more in to the game I'll definitely venture back to play again. Greens have not yet been aerated. I fixed a few ball marks left behind while on the greens. Some holes had a good amount but mostly repaired.
Great Value
This is one of my favorite courses to play in the Richmond area. It has a bunch of different Teebox options and can be pretty challenging and long depending on your preference. The fairways and greens have always been in good shape - The greens especially, roll a little faster and truer than most public courses you can play, especially at that price. I’ve only played on weekend mornings and the pace of play is in line with most of the popular public courses in Richmond. (4-5 hours). Course is also right next to a winery if you have family nearby!
Bottom line - great value for all levels. Especially if looking for a longer / more challenging course.
Excellent Course
We played The Cub at Viniterra on Monday for the first time as the last round before we went home back to Philadelphia. It was part of a package put together by Virginia Golf Vacations. We all loved the course especially the Bent Grass greens, They where a little beat up because of all the rain they have had lately but the putted smooth. The range was large and the putting green was as well. I feel range balls should be included with golf and you shouldn't have to pay the $5.00 but it wasn't to bad. There was NO water on the course but they did have a cart/ beverage girl going around. There was FREE water in the clubhouse to take out. You just had to remember to stop after 9 and fill up. The cooler on the cart was a great addition and feel should be mandatory on all of these Resort courses. The pro shop was small but adequate. Ended up buying a souvenir shirt and the Military discount they offer on green fees and merchandise is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. This was our 2nd Annual trip to Williamsburg and I feel like this is going to be a must play next year and years to follow. It is a little bit of a drive and off the beaten path but believe me it is well worth the drive, you WILL NOT be disappointed. Everyone there was very nice and accommodating.
Great day
First time playing the course as visiting the State on business so rented clubs.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, great value for money on and off course.
Would be great to try the course with my own clubs, quite challenging and long, well worth a visit,
One of the best … and slowest public courses around RVA
Course is in great shape considering the play it gets. Greens are in good shape from the course staff but a lot of people leave their ball marks these days. Layout is good with a lot of tee boxes to play to your distance/handicap. Overall this was potentially my favorite public course around RVA, but as it’s gotten more play over the years the pace of play is terrible, and there isn’t any effort to fix it.
