The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Excellent Round of Golf
The golf course is in great shape from tee to green. Pace of play was excellent for a Sunday morning. Staff could have been a little more helpful but overall a nice experience.
Beautiful fairways
Fairways and tee boxes were outstanding. Greens would be amazing and match the cost if people knew how to fix their divot marks.
Keebler
Very nice course. Was a brutally hot day. Offered free waters, ice and had carts with coolers on them. Course was in great condition. Not a course you could walk. Long distances between holes..
Fun, beautiful golf course - great value!
Staff was awesome. “Regulars” were friendly and helpful. Fairways and greens in great shape. Some bunkers left to waste but that’s understandable in light of rainfall this season. Really beautiful scenery between holes. Rough not punitive. Very good value.
Nice course
My group really liked the course and we got a great rate. The course despite two inches of rain the night before was in great shape. Our only complaints which was big is that it was 90 degrees and humid, but NOT ONE water cooler on the entire course. There were jugs everywhere, but not one cooler on the course with water.
Nice Course
The course was nice. It had its share of hazards, but they weren't too bad. The course was in great shape. It was a really nice course. The clubhouse was nice and had the staff were nice.
If I had a knock on the course it was the parking area was challenging - not too many spaces. Also, the distance from the last green to the next t-box was a bit of a travel for just about all holes.
Tough course
Great layout and overall a tough course to test your skills. Clubhouse staff have always been great and the range is kept in good condition. I’m a 11 handicap and struggle to stay below 90. If you play the course a couple of times, you’ll start to learn where to miss, because missing in the wrong location hurts the scorecard. Elevated greens make for precision approach shots and bunkers gabble up short or long shots. Love the course and determined to shoot in the low 80’s as I learn the course. Well worth the trip from RVA.
Nice Course...But Slow Play
I always try to play Viniterra when I'm in Williamsburg. It's typically easy to get a tee time, and the course is really a nice configuration of easy and risk-reward holes. Wide fairways, but some weird bounces--and some hidden challenges with the slope of some fairways and strategically placed drop offs and bunkers that narrow the fairway in many landing areas. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The only reason I gave it a 4 vs 5 is because they had just aerated the greens and they were tough to read and putt on. The bunkers were exceptional! I haven't played recently in bunkers this nice--with fine, deep sand and easy to hit behind and under the ball without fear of hitting something hard beneath the ball. Very nice! Unfortunately, the pace was slow (almost 5 hours) and it didn't need to be. The group in front of us were clearly playing from tees that were beyond their skill set (if you're playing 6700+ yards, you should be able to hit a drive longer than 160 yds and in the fairway). It was tough to watch, and hampered our round and experience. But, I will always come back because I've had more favorable experiences at Viniterra than not. It's only 40 minutes West of Williamsburg, so it should be on your playing list when visiting the area.
What a difference a month makes?
They should be telling customers that the greens are aerated when you are charging $60 a head to play, they were really bumpy affecting all short putts, really disappointing considering they were perfect about a month ago!
Aerated greens
Everything on the course was in great condition with the exception of the greens which must have been recently aerated as they were extremely bumpy. I imagine in a few weeks time they will be back to their great shape.
Excellence Every Time!!
Between this course and Royal New Kent, they're simply the best courses anywhere!
Great course lay out
I would like to see a little more sand in the traps
