The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Golfer Reviews
Nice course. Moderately forgiving.
First time I played the course. Just picking the game back up, so I cant claim to be an outstanding ball striker. For a woods course it is moderately forgiving. Fairway bunkers were in play for most of my tee shots, from the blue tees. As I get more in to the game I'll definitely venture back to play again. Greens have not yet been aerated. I fixed a few ball marks left behind while on the greens. Some holes had a good amount but mostly repaired.
Great Value
This is one of my favorite courses to play in the Richmond area. It has a bunch of different Teebox options and can be pretty challenging and long depending on your preference. The fairways and greens have always been in good shape - The greens especially, roll a little faster and truer than most public courses you can play, especially at that price. I’ve only played on weekend mornings and the pace of play is in line with most of the popular public courses in Richmond. (4-5 hours). Course is also right next to a winery if you have family nearby!
Bottom line - great value for all levels. Especially if looking for a longer / more challenging course.
Excellent Course
We played The Cub at Viniterra on Monday for the first time as the last round before we went home back to Philadelphia. It was part of a package put together by Virginia Golf Vacations. We all loved the course especially the Bent Grass greens, They where a little beat up because of all the rain they have had lately but the putted smooth. The range was large and the putting green was as well. I feel range balls should be included with golf and you shouldn't have to pay the $5.00 but it wasn't to bad. There was NO water on the course but they did have a cart/ beverage girl going around. There was FREE water in the clubhouse to take out. You just had to remember to stop after 9 and fill up. The cooler on the cart was a great addition and feel should be mandatory on all of these Resort courses. The pro shop was small but adequate. Ended up buying a souvenir shirt and the Military discount they offer on green fees and merchandise is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. This was our 2nd Annual trip to Williamsburg and I feel like this is going to be a must play next year and years to follow. It is a little bit of a drive and off the beaten path but believe me it is well worth the drive, you WILL NOT be disappointed. Everyone there was very nice and accommodating.
Great day
First time playing the course as visiting the State on business so rented clubs.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, great value for money on and off course.
Would be great to try the course with my own clubs, quite challenging and long, well worth a visit,
One of the best … and slowest public courses around RVA
Course is in great shape considering the play it gets. Greens are in good shape from the course staff but a lot of people leave their ball marks these days. Layout is good with a lot of tee boxes to play to your distance/handicap. Overall this was potentially my favorite public course around RVA, but as it’s gotten more play over the years the pace of play is terrible, and there isn’t any effort to fix it.
Great golf course to play!!
The fairway was really well maintained and the staff was awesome.
Because of the wet fairway, the cart path only rule took me around 3 hours and a half to get through. Except that, no complaint.
Always a great track
Vinaterra is a course I really enjoy, nice practice facility and a wonderful layout. Bunkers need some work due to the rain and I wish more people would fix their ball marks. The greens were running nicely but looked so pockmarked due to lack of/improper repair. Fairways were lush and were still a little soft and not running out making the Green tees 6700 feel much longer. I do wish they had something in the 6400 range since the next tees, white, drop to 6150. Very few wet areas where the water drains to. Pace was a little slow from a 3some in front of us but not painfully. Restaurant/Bar is good to stop in, but did not this time. Young Lady in Beverage cart was very friendly and we were able to see her several times to keep hydrated. A course well worth playing.
Great day
I was surprised the course and parking lot was half empty since usually both are very full. Great for us since there was no one in front of us or behind us most of the day. Greens were top dressed just a little bit but didn't effect the putting. Friendly staff and cart girl to make it a wonderful day.
Wonderful Course - Great Value
Played here on a whim and it ended up being our favorite course of the weekend. Great setup, wonderful staff, fast play. Nothing to complain about. Course was in perfect condition and would absolutely play here again. Highly recommended.
Nate
Course is in overall good shape, nice fairways and greens, only complaint is the bunkers there in terrible shape they really need to work on them, but other than that very enjoyable course.
