The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Golfer Reviews
Great track
This was a great day of golf. You feel like you are the only ones playing the course. The fairways and greens were in great shape for this time of year. I can only imagine how nice it will be in a couple weeks.
I hope to be able to get back here to golf again.
Great Condition for this Time of Year
Every time I'm in the Williamsburg area, I try to get a round in at Viniterra. This course is a good challenge with lots of contours in the fairways and an abundance of bunkers throughout. It's an interesting layout and you have to think about where you want to land the ball, otherwise you'll get yourself in some trouble. I was surprised what good shape the course is in for this time of year. The rough, of course, is still dormant, but the fairways were greening up nicely. The greens--OMG, were they every fast! I can't tell you how many three putts I had as a result! Finally got the feel on the back nine. There is a lot of construction going on off course (looks like more housing development), but it does impact the cart paths so you will run into areas of gravel off the concrete path. It doesn't detract from the experience--just a "heads up." I haven't been there since the clubhouse was finished, and it's really nice. This course just keeps getting better...
Continues to get better
Have come to the area and played this course for about 10 years. From the clubhouse to the course and back to the 19th hole it improves every time we return.
It has 7 sets of tees to choose from.so that every player can find a length that works for them. It is well worth the trip from Richmond, Williamsburg and beyond as a great value and a fun day..
Extremely Slow play
The course and staff are great. Took 3 hrs to play the front nine. We ended up leaving after 9 due to the slow play. We allotted 4 1/2 hours to play before our winery reservations. After starting about 40 mins after our tee time due to frost delays, we waited 3 to 4 minutes on every shot. After 9 holes we decided to leave. The course did credit us for 9 holes.
Great Track
Extremely interesting golf course. Very difficult with fairways having a lot of contour. The greens were excellent for this time of year and very challenging. Lots of sand. It was wet after severe rain yesterday so conditions were not great but that was to be expected. I plan to return in warmer weather when the Bermuda fairways start growing.
Beautiful Day
Course is always in good condition. Plenty of traps to protect the green and approaches. Many different tees so yardage can be selected appropriately. Gets lots of play so greens have too many ballmarks but other than that always friendly staff , cart girl and nice golfers out here. Hope they are expanding the parking lot since that is always cramped.
Favorite course in the Richmond area
This course was my favorite public course in the Richmond area while I lived locally from 2018-2020. Since I have moved away, I have made it a point of contingency to play Viniterra anytime I return to visit the Richmond area. A challenging design that offers every golfer the opportunity to use their imagination to pull off shots that would cause any level golfer the desire to return again.
Fantastic course and friendly staff
The course is kept in great shape and is equally fun and challenging - we had a 9 handicap in our group and a 22. Everyone had a blast. New clubhouse was great. Club pro and starter were great guys.
Can’t wait till the weather turns the course perfect
For March, Viniterra looked very nice and the greens in very good shape. Great job keeping the course like this and can’t wait to play this Spring and Summer.
Continuing to get drier and better
Viniterra is a very nice course that is getting back to its shape as we dry out from the deluge of the last forever. Very playable even now. Wish people would fix their ball marks.
Great layout
Fun golf course- lots of tee choices-greens were not in the best shape but it is March not May or June- I’m sure they will get much better with better weather.
Got great rate on GolfNow so overall it was a really goo day
