Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

This is by far the best course for your money. It’s a long course so make sure you place the appropriate tee boxes for your skill set or it’s going to be a long day.

Great course that’s challenging

The course is in great shape. There is a lot of elevation change and slope so it helps to play with other people who have played here if it’s your first time playing this course.

Good Day

This course has a challenging layout and length. It is in good shape and will sharpen your shot making with numerous bunkers.

As older players we needed to have separate carts to feel safe during the virus and the staff was very understanding. I recommend this course.

Viniterra GC

Great staff. Booked tee time on Golf Now/Golf Pass for a foursome at $36 with cart and 10:30 start time. Four of the holes were cart path only. It’s a hilly course and very wet today. Next couple of days a lot more rain is expected. Course was tough due to the wet conditions but we still enjoyed the challenges.

Great course

Viniterra has some of the best designed holes of any course in the piedmont region of mid-Atlantic states. The par 5 fourth hole is the only one I think should be slightly modified. There’s a hidden ravine which extends across the fairway at a reachable distance for a decent drive by any player playing from the appropriate tee box. It would be fine if the ravine had grass rather than being kept like a hazard...but that’s just my two cents. Anyway, I highly recommend playing Viniterra to everyone who enjoys upscale golf courses. It’s a great layout.

great course with a wonderful layout

Second time playing here. Greens are getting better. Very wide fairways give you areas to pump a driver out there without worrying too much about a slice. A lot of bunkers to navigate. I found myself at the beach several times. Fun course and beautiful views. The carts were very nice as well. Had a cooler built in to put your drinks, as well as a USB ports for a phone charger. We will be playing that course often this summer.

Very good course

I've played Viniterra a few times and enjoyed it. It is challenging and the setting is nice. The only problem we encountered was the condition of the greens. The course just arriated the greens so putting was a challenge. I know this is part of course maintenance and it will not deter me from playing Viniterra In the future.

Better and Better

This course gets Better and Better every time I play it. They’re newly open clubhouse and grill is a big plus. Course layout is second to none in the area, although the many bunkers may it a tough tract for the average golfer. A+

Great day to play golf

Temp was 85, course was in good shape. Greens rolled true and fast.

Only complaint here was there were no water coolers out on the course. It was a little frustrating being so warm and not having water out there.

Good value

Played here for the first time and looking forward to returning when spring arrives. Greens were recently aerated and should improve with better weather. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Pace of Play

The course was very crowded. When I went to first tee box, there were another group waiting so they were slightly behind times. It took 2and1/2 hours to play 9 holes so we quit. There was no MARSHALL on the course to help speed up play. Will NOT go back!

Best course in the area

Played here for the first time yesterday and was blown away. The course is in amazing shape especially for this time in the season. They have 6 tee boxes (I think) in every hole, many of which change the way you should play it so it’s really as challenging or easy as you want it to be. The course is beautiful the whole way through and a ton of fun to drive through. It is very, very long so I don’t think I would ever walk it but I don’t mind that.

Only complaint is that some of the in between cart paths are still gravel but that’s really it! For the price I haven’t come across anything remotely comparable within a 50 mile radius.
