The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Fun course
Good layout. Played in off-season, but conditions were still good considering. Course was wide open and it's a good value.
Good mix of holes. Very peaceful course.
Good mix of holes. Very peaceful course. Most of the holes seem like their own private world. Good mix of challenging holes and birdie opportunities.
Great line-of-sight course with well-conditioned greens.
You have total view of the hole from virtually all teeboxes. No guessing as to where to hit. Strategically placed bunkers to catch errant shots left or right of fairways. White tees play about 6200 yards and the blue tees play about 6800 yards. I played the blues because whites were "too short". Lot of long par 4s from the blues, so you need to be a pretty long hitter to enjoy course from the blue tees. Well maintained course and good price on GolfNow. Would definitely play it again.
This is one course you don't want to miss.
This course was in pristine condition when we palyed it in October. Great layout, and true greens.
Beautiful track! This course plays LONG.
After much debate we decided to play from the third set of tees due to weather conditions (cold & rainy). Good thing we did because the course played long that day my friends, very long. Very scenic, quiet, great value, and good pace of play (on a MONDAY). Soon to be private club from what I hear, so now is the time to play while you can. Currently, not much of a clubhouse - just a trailer for now, but plans for a very nice looking one are in the works, so don't expect much in that department. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking to get in a good round of golf at a competitive price.
Tough course. Makes you bring your "A" game.
The course is in really good condition and the staff friendly and helpful. This was the first time I've played the course.
The course was very challenging from the senior tees. A couple of holes a little too challenging. An example is the two 400+ yard par fours to greens guarded by deep sand traps all around the green. Small targets when you are going at them with a wood!
Overall a nice golfing experience.
Awesome Course!!!
This course is beautiful and well worth the value. Greens had small aeration marks, but rolled true and at a good speed, not too slow, but not too fast. Sand traps were well maintained, with more than adequate sand for all typical sand shots. Course layout is excellent. Fairways were in really good shape. Overall I would rate this course as a 4 our of 5 rating.
Terrific bang for the buck - must play if a Richmond resident
Rather than drive all the way out to Williamsburg, enjoy a 1st rate club within 20 minutes of downtown Richmond.
Challenging but fair.
Picturesque layout, each hole is carved out by itself without adjacent fairways or houses everywhere. Long rides on concrete paths and wooden bridges between greens and tees, not a great course to walk. Heavily bunkered but generally wide landing areas, with numerous elevation changes. Excellent practice facilities. Absence of a ranger allowed for some slow play to mar the afternoon, but definitly a must play again.
Viniterra course review
Great staff and service. This is a very llong course that can be challenging.
come and humble yourself.
Back nine the greens were pristine. The front had some recent aeration and some fuzz. This was after a brutal summer that wiped out most greens thoughout southern va, so I was impressed. Expect several holes to have wide open tee shots followed up with fairway bunkers and 2nd shot in shot shapes to approach the greens. This course plays long and greens are fast.
spotty greens condotion, still a great course
*******course should advise when aeration done to greens^^^^^
You'll need all 14
The Club at Viniterra will challenge you, it will reward good shots, punish bad ones. The course is very well maintained, the staff are very polite and helpful.
Wonderful tree lined fairways
Course tough but fair....Elevated fast greens...Course makes you want to play it again and again.
Challenging but fair, in great condition
For only $35, the Club at Viniterra was a steal. Pace of play was great and the vast array of tee boxes allows for a challenging round no matter your handicap. Viniterra was in great shape when we played the first part of October. Overall great experience at a great golf course!
This is a beautiful course -- immediately among our favorites
This course has generous fairways and spaces which make it really playable. The course is in great condition. The staff is very welcoming. Just a wonderful round of golf. Our group is anxious to go back again.
The course is well maintained and a honest challenge
This is a well maintained course and provides a challenge for every level of golfer
Excellent Course for a great price
I've played this course twice now. I found them on "hot-deals". It was defiantly worth it. This course is in great condition and appears to be kept up well. This course is also tough and you can take it from as far as 7800 if you want to! Enjoy!
Great course!!!
Course was in great shape and had many challenging holes. Am looking forward to returning frequently.
challenging course in a secluded area 5 miles off i64
i played this course during the week on a hot time deal for $40 so it was a great deal. really surprised at how quiet it was. great layout also. first time player freindly. there were only a couple holes that would require previous knowledge to play better. outstanding practice area.
