Great holes greens excellent condition fairways bit hit and miss

We enjoyed our round at Alnwick Castle. The starter was very friendly and helpful.

The front 9 was challenging, with fairly unforgiving rough leading to more than a few lost balls. The back 9, however, opens up to wide fairways and great views. Much more forgiving semi and rough. The long par 5s are a challenge that reward a good fairway wood.

What a lovely course, the tees were obviously getting treated so played off temp tees, which was a shame and not really on any flat ground, but understandable at this time of the year getting it ready for the season, greens were a bit hairy and slow again to ongoing preps for the new season. Overall would I go again? Most definitely my son and I really enjoyed it, had lunch after our round food and staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome, a little bit hidden away but I guess that’s why it wasn’t overly busy had a good pace for the round only held up slightly by the two young lads in front, but hey everyone has the right to play.

Played this course a few times as a 16 year old for Hexham Golf Club and it was always a good test with undulating fairways and challenging greens. Played in the spring and as others have written, the greens were not the best. Today the greens were immaculate and the course overall has got back to if not exceeded the levels it was at almost 30 years ago when I was a kid.

A good and challenging course, and with good hospitality in the clubhouse, a most enjoyable experience at Alnwick Castle GC.

Played here earlier in summer. The greens weren't particularly great then and they weren't this time either. Not bad just fluffy and slow. Generally course conditions are good however. Very hilly front 9, much more open back 9.

Lovely club house and good views. For the price we paid I'm not complaining. If you can play here for around £20 it's good value.

Great layout and reasonably well kept, however pro shop is poor but staff are very welcoming.

Course in good condition with, for the most holes wide fairways, but some holes challenging either with narrower fairways or "up hill" drives to blind greens. The 18th is a long uphill hole especially if into the wind. Enjoyed the round.

Paid £14 for a tee time and had a considerably better time than I have on courses for over twice the price. Beware of the wind

We played this course once and fell in love with it and became long distant members. It's a great course to play with amazing surroundings. You will struggle to meet nicer people than the professionals that run the entire business. With Sea views and we were lucky enough to see a deer running across the course all on a beautiful sunlit evening it was simply a perfect day and one we will not only repeat but also recommend to everyone.

The course was well laid out and in excellent condition. The views are stunning and it was quiet so not rushed. We hired a buggy as it’s quite hilly and long. Only issue was the club house was closed when we finished at half five. Apart from that would highly recommend.

Lovely parkland course on the outskirts of Alnwick

2 very different 9’s with lots of trees and hills on first 9 then long flat holes on back nine.

Greens a bit hairy but turf excellent

Clubhouse superb with friendly staff and good food

Greens are getting better. Lovely course great scenery.
