Birtley (Portobello) Golf Club

Great little course not the best condition but for a tenner you not gonna get Augusta conditions great value

Played this course a few times now over the past few years and must Complement the Greenkeepers on producing the best fairways and Greens I’ve seen here..

Also I would like to compliment the Bar Staff and members who make this one of the most welcoming, friendly and safe places to have an after game Drink in the area.

beautiful course and beautiful staff. I've played alot of courses and never before has the shop person escorted me to the 1st tee and run me through the course. Fantastic day although in terrible wind and a bad day for ball striking for me personally I would highly recommend this couse

This is the first time I have played at Birtley and was very surprised at the quality of fairways and the greens

Where first class

Their are only 9 greens so you play each green twice from different tees and most of the fairways are edged

with mature trees making them quite challenging .

There is only one par 5 but this is made up by some very challenging par 3 and par 4 for the average golfer

And would recommend players to give it a try

Course is 9 holes twice , pretty good variety , no water hazards. Bar staff friendly and welcoming

Course was great greens and fairways in perfect condition staff very friendly really good price will be returning.

I paid for a four ball with two adults and two children, my children don’t have a set of golf clubs yet as I was trying to introduce them to the game. My son aged 12 is very good and can keep up on the course. I was however shocked by other players who were not so happy that they were not carrying their own clubs and started shouting at us. I mentioned that I had paid full price for 18 holes we even missed a couple so that we didn’t hold anyone up, but It spoilt our game and the children were slightly upset. How are youngsters supposed to learn and enjoy a wonderful sport.
