Cheap course to play midweek but no amenities available

It must be about 30 years since I last played this course but I remembered the heavily sloped fairways on a number of holes and other holes which were quite a pull, so we arranged a golf buggy for our round. Staff in pro shop helpful on arrival and the buggy was ready and waiting. The day was gloriously sunny and the course in good nick with really fast greens. Lots of thought needed when playing off the tee in order to get the ball on the fairway and not have it roll off into thick rough. Second shots needed just as much thought in order to hit and remain on greens which were in some cases small, others like upturned bowls, and the rest a combination of both. They were all well maintained and consistent in pace it has to be said.

The one disappointment came when we walked off the 18th green. Having been told that the clubhouse would be open at 11am, we were relishing a visit to the bar but found that both the pro shop and the entire clubhouse were locked up with no staff to be seen. No way to hand in the key for the buggy, no drink in the bar and no toilet facilities! A sad end to an otherwise enjoyable day….

Definitely need some ‘next tee’ signs on some holes.

Fairways & greens are in good condition.

Very friendly staff and members.

Overall great day playing and we will return for another game shortly.

Great Course & Excellent price.

I've played this course twice now, I learnt from the first time that you must try and use the course contours to your advantage. The course is very well maintained, I arrived early to have a good practice session before commencing my round. I went to the shop to let them know I have a tee off, he said that I go on straight away. The course was busy but it didn't slow the pace of play down, everyone I spoke to were really polite and friendly. I would recommend this course for any sort of level of golf. There's some good challenges around the course. I can't wait to play here again.

Lovely course.

I really enjoyed playing here, it is a great course and value for money. I would recommend this to any type of golfer. There’s some challenges on there, you need to use the contours of the ground to benefit and gain a good score.

Consistently excellent

Once again we had another great round at Crook. Great views, good variety of holes, well looked after greens and fairways, well priced at £20 per round for visitors. Probably my favourite course in the region

EXCELLENT COURSE

We played this course for the 1st time today, was totally blown away with the course conditions.

The course was quite challenging as most holes fall away to the left. Greens are very fast but a great challenge.

Overall very pleased we booked the game has made us consider membership, even though it is a 40 minute drive from home!

One of the best in the area

Seems like one that would be difficult in poor weather due to its location, however on this warm, sunny Saturday afternoon it was absolutely outstanding. I have played most of the courses in northern County Durham and I’d honestly say Crook was my favourite

An absolute gem

A real thinking golfer’s course with blind tee shots, sloping fairways and a super variety of holes with dog legs and blind shots to greens. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were faultless. The highlights were the friendly members giving useful tips and encouragement before the round and the bar lady at the end. My playing partner and myself had a great round and would recommend Crook to everyone.
