Quiet afternoons golf
Great afternoons golf with 3 mates, everywhere all locked up just the green keeper pottering about, picked up a scorecard outside the club shop and away we were, no queues and greens and fairways decent, no par fives but a couple of tricky holes, highly enjoyable
Testing Gatley
Don't let the size of this course fool you, plenty of tight out of bounds and some challenging holes. Greens in good condition, some very grabby light rough to contend with. Definitely worth playing and not as easy as it first appears
Great 9 hole course
Having lived in the area for the last 3 years I was really overdue a round at Gatley.
The course was in superb condition. Whilst the course is shorter than most, it still presents plenty of challenges off the tee.
Really enjoyed my round and will definitely play again
Wouldn’t go back
Not a terrible course, but when I went it was registered as 18 holes, when it’s nine. Didn’t felt like I got my money’s worth. A very basic course that’s good for a beginner golfer
Gatley GC May 2021
Wanted somewhere local, quiet so I could practise and take my time,, inexpensive but still a challenge.
From playing here b4 many times I knew there would be no one around and I think I saw one other golfer and two greenstaff.
Course was in fantastic condition though pretty wet from all the recent rain
Vastly improved from 3-4 years ago this is a really interesting test of golf if only a nine holer..Last 3 holes are the highlight.
Definitely come back but if u want a Pro Shop and Changing rooms etc this is not the course for u.
9/10
A little gem..
We discovered this course last year,if you time it right you can play it for around s tenner.
Gatley is a 9 hole course ,(we played 27 holes last year),small, compact, and is well maintained.
There are some really excellent holes on the property which will test your game.
There is a downer tho ,at this moment in time there isn't a Pro Shop, they've had 'issues' in the past so it's advisable to print some scorecards out beforehand (there's a telephone no to ring but sometimes there's no-one there)
So take all your own food and drinks because you won't get them there.
A little gem that you won't regret playing
Good golf course
This golf course I would call a hidden gym it has 9 holes if you played twice and every hole is fantastic kept and as very nice views
Game with friends
Glad to be out on the course again. 4 ball in front of us were very slow. The course was very boggy due to the constant rain we've had. All in all great to be out again
Played during winter greens and COVID times.....
Holes 8 and 9 where closed....so that was a bit dissapointing as (both) holes looked the most challenging for the 9 hole course.....
Overall though, we considered it value for money
Course very very wet
This was my first time at Gatley. The course was extremely wet and bogey and is not far off being closed In my opinion. 2 of the holes were closed due to water logging ( since October)- this information would be helpful somewhere on the app when booking as it would let people make a better decision about booking. Not an enjoyable experience this time
Bad experience
I tried calling this club for 3 days after I booked. We had some bad weather and tried calling 5 times on the morning of the session but again no answer.
We turned up and the golf shop is closed and the facilities are closed and there is no organisation of who is teeing off at what time.
Clearly people playing who hadn't booked a tee slot.
We decided not to play and went to another course.
Then read the reviews online and this seems to be the case with Gatley. Terrible reviews and the same bad experience.
Great course for high handicap
Great course was greeted by the manager gave me great advice about the course well recommend
Mostly Enjoyable
Played here 4 times recently. I'm new to golf and have been enjoying the deals on this local course. It's a tight, compact course which is fairly challenging but good fun. Unfortunately the "inspector" was really grumpy and rude to me and basically said that he hates golfnow and the people that use it as it messes up the rotation etc. I felt a bit disheartened as a new player at being treated like this.
Wouldn’t bother
I had been looking forward to playing Gatley and booked a round for the Sunday just gone on the GolfNow App. Turned up to find that the course was closed despite the booking being made and payment taken 24 hours prior to this. Very disappointing as we received no email or call to say the course was closed. A number of other people had the same problem. It didn’t help that there was nobody at the course to explain the situation. All other local courses seemed to be open. Won’t be coming back I’m afraid.
