Overpriced for the condition of course. Won’t be returning until conditions improve. Waterlogged fairways, tee box grass too long, mud all over walkways. Price should be lowered to reflect course conditions.
Very wet.
The course itself was notin bad condition, but the pathways between greens and tee boxes were very boggy. They need to work on the drainage
No Empathy
We booked the round a week in advance however on the day the weather was truly awful, constant heavy rain all day, which eventually left the course waterlogged and the greens unplayable. We asked prior to going out, with the rain pouring down if we could possibly postpone our round to another mutually agreeable date however the answer was no and any attempt at further dialogue was directed towards GolfNow. There is no way of talking to GolfNow on the phone as none of the telephone numbers provided online are correct, which means we were left with little choice but to go out in the rain and make the best of it and by god it rained! Only finished 9 holes and couldn’t put out on the last 3 greens, literally soaked to the skin and left feeling very frustrated that common sense couldn’t prevail.
Saturday Golf
We played at 2:30pm on a Saturday and the course was quiet - an excellent chance to enjoy the course and surrounding. Some temporary tee boxes but this is due to the extremely wet winter - I'm sure all tee boxes will be open soon. Greens were quite soft and slow, but again probably due to the weather. The staff were friendly and the green fee (£20) was excellent value for money.
George Washington golf course
Played here 1st time, not played anywhere for about 6 months. Enjoyed the course. It's fairly flat, good when struggling to walk, pretty dry after all the rain we've had. 2 tee boxes out of action at the moment but should be ok in few days.
Boggy
I had been warned that this course has drainage problems and so it proved to be. I appreciate there had been rain 2 days earlier but the fairways and tees were just mudbaths. Nearly every ball plugged which was very frustrating. The sand in the bunkers was like concrete. The only plus point was the greens were really good.
George Washington
A Great Course in Cracking Condition at the moment. Had rain on the 1st, 2nd and 16th until finish which detracted a little from the game but overall Great, the Course is in Great shape, the Tee Boxes and Greens were flawless, really enjoyable round!!!
£40 🫣
Certain tee boxes very wet, course also wet thought it was overpriced for the conditions
Great course in Superb condition
The course was in amazing condition and the staff super friendly good value for money. . . Couldn't ask for more
Cracking course
Played in a charity day today and the course is in really good condition. Well maintained. Definitely play again. Reviews below about playing in a bog are expected in march as it rains a lot up here.
Swamp
Worst conditions I've played in. Boggy and long grassed fairways on every hole. Tee boxes were a joke.
Shame because the greens were nice and in good condition
Swamp golf
Played the course many times and a former member, however, the course was severely waterlogged and almost unplayable. Played 18 just, course should of been closed,. Expensive course to play as a one off, unjustified for this particular course. Greens were terrible which is not normally the case
Very muddy
As a whole the course was very wet and muddy, including the tee areas and the fairways. I lost several balls in the middle of the fairway and around greens, probably plugged deep in the mud... Frustrating. Many temporary greens, especially on the back nine, which is understandable given the time of the year.
The course layout is not bad, though no really any outstanding holes. the course is rather flat so probably easy to walk when in dries up (hard work in the mud today).
Note this is the first time I play this course, or any course in the Newcastle area. So can't compare with other courses nearby yet. I just moved to the area an looking for a club to become a member. I will probably come back later in the season to give this course another go under better circumstances. For now it hasn't made my shortlist.
SHOCKING CONDITIONS
I NOT recommend any one playing here , early March and the course was ankle high with mud and water , every t off box was flooded,
Don't book here , waste of £22
Charging Full Price for Winter Greens is a bit much!
No mention of winter greens prior to booking I’m afraid. Weather has been challenging so understandable, however being charged full price and not making people aware prior to booking is very poor.
