Course on form as per

Played the course a few times. It's always in great condition and despite the recent poor weather took the water well and wasn't too boggy. Always happy to play here, would recommend!

Good course in the city

This is a great course in a good central location. The staff and members are very friendly and the course is currently in excellent condition. Not a particularly long course however quite a few tricky holes to keep you honest!

Short course but testing

Nicely laid out course, plenty of sand in the bunkers and the ousburn running through the course adds a nice feature. Thinking of joining as I liked it so much....

Very enjoyable and in great condition.

Gosforth has some of the purest greens in the region, giving you the confidence to drain the 6 footers. There are lots of different styles of hole, with a few elevated greens including the short par 4 17th, which certainly can reward anyone brave enough to risk driver off the tee! The course feels quite open for the majority of the round, so you don't have to worry about occasional hooks/slices, however there are just enough ditches and out-of-bounds areas to keep you concentrating for the full round. I played on a warm, relatively calm day so the longer par 4s were reachable in 2, but I imagine a windy day would make this a very testing golf course for anyone.

Very enjoyable

This is a relatively short but enjoyable course. Very well kept, impressive greens. The back nine is a little up and down for a spell but it ends strongly with some good holes.

Bar area is nice, menu is ideal for golfers and the chips are a must!

Not the toughest test but a fun place to play and if you are lucky, we were, then you may even be joined on the course by deer wandering around.

Never Again

After a few rainy days prior to playing, checking the website and speaking to the golf shop upon arrival the course was supposed to be fine and playable. UTTER GARBARGE!!!!! 11 of the greens were closed off and the pin was on the fairway for those closed holes. The annoying element was the greens seemed perfectabley playable - so why close them off??? Where the grounds man had moved the holes too it was absolutely impossible to putt. On the 16th hole in particular the "green" was nothing more than a massive puddle. As for the tee of position, at least 12 of the holes had the tee box moved 30-40 yards futher up the fairway - where again (exactly the same as the greens) they seemed perfectly playable.

With regards to the greens that were open it was evident that the course had very little or zero drainage as the greens looked like a giant pin cushion with all the holes in it. This meant having a smooth putt was absolutely impossible. The ball bobbles to the hole on every green. Unbelievable that they had the cheek to charge anything at all to play on this course.

Yes, the course is over 100yr old and yes, you don't expect it to be perfect. You could even blame the bad weather the few days before to a certain degree, but for me it was a poor excuse for a golf course. Defiantly needs bringing into the 21st century!

You'll never get any of my again!!!!!!!!
