Good course but slow play

Course was in good condition during our visit with the exception of a few greens which are obviously still recovering from winter with some sand & seed patching in place. For anyone that hasn't played Heworth before it's nice and flat which is a refreshing break from some of the quite hilly courses elsewhere. Biggest frustration for us was pace of play which was poor from beginning to end - there is a huge digital clock on the side of the club house next to the 1st tee box and yet members still managed to tee off late resulting in our group and several others being backed up the whole way round the course with one group actually bailing out at the half way mark due to sheer frustration - sadly we have experienced similar before at Heworth hence it's not a "one off" event - it's probably the most pressing issue that the club needs to address to improve the visitor experience.

Well placed bunkers

Decent course not massively difficult, but with some wind makes it an even better course to play ,well placed bunkers ,fast greens & tidy fairways,

Decent warm up area around the back, great shop & a nice pint afterwards. Will be back .

Heworth

Played Heworth in November - when the weather was all over, but the course played really nicely. Course is really nicely laid out, few really good holes and makes you think.

Pace of play was decent - but there was a few people who were very slow in front of us (possibly members) we ended up tagging onto another 2 ball to make things a bit quicker

Found the staff to be alright, just found the first question or thing they ask of "Are you members?" abit strange, not hello, or morning - but maybe thats just me

I probably wouldnt play here again as it felt like it was very much a members club, but yet again may just be me

Con.

Picked up the tee time £40pp a week ago, got a email the next day from golf now offering the time and same day deal for £17.99.

Golf now does not advise on winter mats to be needed, poor to find this out on arrival, fairways poor, muddy, caked in worm casts, greens were good when you got there.

Not good value for money, would not recommend.

The course is well laid out with plenty of signs to point you in the right direction and was also in very good condition for the time of year. The only downside and that’s nothing to do with the course was the extremely slow play by a 4 ball that held up the 4 groups playing behind.

Haworth golf course

The course is practically flat which is good when buggies aren't available. No winter tees or greens on yet. Greens still in good condition. Fairways were pretty damp so playing off mud in places. After all bad weather the course wasn't in too bad a condition. It was very busy so the play was quite slow.

Great condition for the time of year, but not the most interesting course.

The course was well kept given the recent rainfall.

The heather around the bunkers is a nice touch.

The staff were all friendly, and the clubhouse is big and well furnished.

The course itself isn’t very interesting; very few memorable holes, a lot of overly long and straight par 4s, and a lot of back and forth holes.

Several green-to-tees are an unnecessarily long walk, to elongate the next hole, and this slows down the pace of play which, judging from the members we saw, is already pretty slow. It took us almost 4 hours as a two-ball - that is far too slow.

We got a good price and the course was well maintained, but it’s not somewhere we’d return to in the near future.

Slow

We hit the back end of a tournament who was 20 mins ahead of us to begin with, eventually they held us up from hole 10. Other than that was decent
