5 hour round

Course is reasonable condition but day ruined by visiting party in front. Sharing clubs, 4 people riding in a buggy and drunk!! Openly drinking cans of beer on the way round. Shouting and swearing!!

Course not policed by course staff.

Excellent condition

Course had been brought to a high standard after terrible months of rain

No litter well manicured fast greens ..just needs attention to bunkers which are compacted

Good course but slow play

Course was in good condition with the exception of some standing water / mud in some areas due to recent rain - layout is quite good for a relatively flat parkland course with some interesting holes - undulating fairways at the South West end of the course can be a bit frustrating to play on due to difficulty addressing the ball if you haven't been lucky off the tee. Our round took us a frustrating four and a half hours with our group and two groups behind us stood waiting on almost every hole (at one point we even noticed some people ahead of us playing as a five ball) - the club needs to look at introducing a clock for competitions and rejecting scores where players have taken say four hours plus to complete their round.

Great course even in the rain

Very grateful that staff at the course kept the course open despite heavy rain during the day. Early evening tee off time and the rain was still falling. After about hole 4 the waterproofs came off and we were doused in lovely evening sunshine. Quite a bit of water in puddles and some surface water on the greens - but despite that it was a lovely evening game of golf. Course in great condition, well maintained and lovely wide fairways. Look forward to paying again in dryer conditions.

Dry at last!

After months of rain, I waited for a few weeks for the course to be playable - and it was.

The only blemish is on a few of the greens where crows and magpies are pecking into the surface looking for leatherjackets which you are no longer allowed to prevent with sprays. I was going to criticise for pace of play, as I caught up with a 4 ball which had teed off 30 minutes before me, by the 5th hole. At which point, I joined up with a member to make up a 2 ball and the 4 ball suddenly picked up their pace.

Whilst a flat course, some interesting bunker features and becks which dissect fairways and are sometimes tricky to spot, make it a decent test.

Disappointing

Played at same time last year and it was immaculate. Conditions were a bit wet but the greens were the worst I have played all winter, clearly have some kind of disease.

Such a shame as the club house is great and the staff excellent.

The course itself is just long and boring we cut out 4 holes on back nine and went in early.

Great food in the bar though. A shame

Played at better places

I’ve played at this course before but due to the recent weather, my experience wasn’t the best. But I know you can’t control that but maybe the drainage on the course could be improved. I think the club could invest in some kind of path better hole so I don’t have to walk through mud to play the next hole and only 9 holes were only in play that day. We had a four ball playing in front of the 2 of us but didn’t have the courtesy to let us past even though we were waiting at the tee off at the same time. I might go back again when we’re a long dry spell.

In need of some fairway maintenance

First time playing here and most likely the last, tee boxes and greens are in good condition but the fairways are a different matter. I know we’ve had some horrible weather lately but I’ve played courses that I’d expect to be sodden which weren’t, but first fairway ball plugged I probably spent a good five minutes per hole looking for my ball when it was in the fairway, it looks like they are spending a bit of money in trying to sort some of the problems out, I used a voucher for here and the round was £28. I think given the course conditions it should only be 10 or 15 quid, the course has some nice holes and a decent layout, I’d only go back if we’ve had a month of hot weather, I always like to make my own mind up on a course regardless of reviews but if you play here make sure it’s cheaper and hotter, I played mid September

Great course

This is a great course. I have lived within 20 minutes of the course for the last 20+ years and never played it and what a mistake that was. It is very well kept, some nice challenging holes and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Great value, challenging in places.

Greens we found were a little inconsistent, some like glass, others a little pacey.

Not a complaint though and we will return again

Wet weather
Walked

Need better communication from Club to GolfNow to players.

I’ve knew the weather are bit wet, I was well prepared with electric trolley winter wheels, waterproof clothes etc.. Upon on our arrive we discovered there’s no trolley allowed on course, totally understand why once we played on course.. but it would be nice to sent email to warning about no trolley allowed because unfortunately I didn’t have carry bag with me - it’s actually cart bag which everyone know it’s oversize bag, difficult to carry, heavy! I’ve tried removed 4/5 clubs that I rarely use, empty all the 30/40 balls to 10 balls, it didn’t really help, so we bite our tongue to go ahead and play. It may not club fault cos we actually booked through GolfNow.

There got to be a better way for communicate from club to GolfNow and to players with update regarding of course. Please Improve the communication system.

For the time of year course was in good condition. Greens were playing reasonably quick for it being winter. Got round in 3-4 hours and probably will play the course again in the summer months
