5 star rating
1st time at Longhirst, the holes were clearly signposted, which is a big plus for those who have never played there.
Staff were friendly and the course was in really good condition.
Definitely recommend the Dawson course and looking forward to playing the lakes course very soon.
Worth a round
The course is in good condition; fewer geese around this time so less of their "by-products" to avoid. Some challenging holes but the course has something for everyone.
A Little Dissapointed
Had heard great things about the course and was excited on arrival as the area around the brilliant clubhouse looked immaculate. Unfortunately once we arrived on to the first tee, they were in very poor state. They are absolutely covered in divots and the tee blocks obviously hadn’t been moved for a good few days, at times it was hard to find a spot to tee up. Probably more due to bad timing, but the greens had recently been tined and sanded before we played which made for uneven surfaces, and although the green fee was reasonable, it would have been good to have been informed of this before playing as it was a bit of a surprise on a sunny August afternoon to see greens you’d expect in October!
Excellent Value
Well presented, tidy but Tee boxes poor but overall good course excellent value
Dawson Course
Arrived to play Dawson course whilst visiting the in-laws and I was no disappointed. The course in excellent condition green fast but receptive. Fairways immaculate. Pace of play excellent with curteous players letting you through. Shot +9 with 2 lost balls in the water. Hopefully get another round in before returning to Scotland.
Tip Top
Great family day out with my son, playing conditions perfect we played the same day as a county game but never a problem.
Great course for all
I have always wanted to play this course whilst living in the north and I have to say that the course is amazing. I may say that this course is definitely in the top 5 within the north east and I enjoy it more that the filly at close house. I rated the off course amenities a 3 star because I never used them, the staff are great and friendly.
Longhirst Dawson
On turning and checking in things were fine, approached the tee and there was a two ball teeing off which was only two minutes before us. There doesn’t appear to be any gaps between play where usually there are ten minutes between tee times. This continued throughout the game with groups of golfers queuing there appears to be too many groups.
Course in great condition greens and fairways playing well
good for average and senior players
this course will not beat you up. wide fairways, and a couple of nice elevated tees. not many bunkers.
