Visited on a group trip and found hospitality excellent, staff were very friendly and facilities good. Quality of food and accommodation very good and value for money of whole experience was excellent. Weather preceding our visit was not kind and consequently the course was wet however it was a very good test of golf and in reasonable condition.
Had a really enjoyable time and will visit again.. many thanks to the Manager and staff who were superb and could not do enough to help our party of golfers.
Hollins Hall
Great venue ..the Hotel was tremendous and all the staff could not do enough for me. It was a pleasure from the food in the evening to the soup and pies at the halfway house on the course.
As for the golf course an absolute gem and challenging greens.
Overall I had the best experience all round and a perfect day once again the staff were more than helpful in every manner.
Hollins Hall
There were 16 of us on a mini golf trip, 1 night stay and 2 rounds of golf, this included bed and breakfast and evening meal. Service was outstanding the staff couldn't do enough for us and were led by a fantastic manager Frédéric, credit to the company and can't praise them highly enough. The food was excellent and the setting was welcoming. The course was in very good condition considering the amount of rain in the area over the previous few days. Overall a 5 star venue.
Don't bother, this course should be closed.
The course should be closed, the fairways are unplayable, it's just mud. Ball doesn't travel at all. I left after 5 holes, I should still be our there right now.
I know we have had a bit of rain, but I played Ben Rhydding on Sunday after some rain and the course was in brilliant condition. The only positive was the greens which were in excellent condition.
Frustrating to have paid for a round when the greenskeepers and staff will know that the course is in terrible condition.
Very poor fairways
Played during a reasonably October and the fairways were in appalling conditions, the pace of play also extremely slow
Great course
The course was in great condition considering the rain we had in the precious 48hrs.
Great layout but would have been nice if the halfway house was open.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Would definitely play there again.
Great course and Staff
Had a great afternoon of golf on a well looked after course, staff were extremely friendly, nothing negative to say
Can't wait to play again
A thoroughly enjoyable round of golf. I've been wanting to play this course for a long whole and finally got around to it. I was disappointed. The long walk up the hill to the first tee had me regretting, not accepting the lift up there. Apart from a stiff breeze, the weather was ideal. Beautifully laid out course that gets more challenging in the middle holes as they develop with the undulating terrain. 14th (The Viaduct) is a delightful signature hole. I got stuck behind 3 guys over the last 5 holes which then took well over an hour which left my concentration waning and 5 puts on the 18th. It took the shine off my scorecard, but not the day.
Good challenge for any golfer
It was a stunning day out, the course was very green and it played well. The greens were a little quicker than I'm used to, but sooner realised the better.
I used a quality golf cart to get round at a reasonable price. The staff were all friendly and approachable. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting a challenge
Excellent value
The course was brilliant although they didn’t accept cash in the hotel meaning our group had to go elsewhere for food and drinks.
Great for the price
For £15 it's great. Course is very picturesque with some really good holes. Only thing was the greens let it down slightly, very marked and holed.
The course
I play links normally but travelling down to the North Yorkshire area we played here. The course was in good condition with very wide fare ways, the only issue we had was the greens each hole had a different speed with the ball so it was hard to judge the pace. I would play there again.
Excellent course layout in picturesque location
We played Hollins Hall for the first time and were amazed. The condition of the course was excellent, the layout was a really good challenge, it made you think about where to place your shots not just whack and walk. The rough was very long in places. The clubhouse and facilities were incredible. The staff were very nice and happy to help. All in all, a very good day out at a great price on a great course. I will definitely return.
Great views but avoid the rough
Played this course in a very strong wind so this might be biasing this review. Strong winds and sloping layouts meant that your ball frequently rolled off the fairway into the near rough. This wa so dense that you could pretty much forget about finding your ball which was a shame. Aside from this the course is enjoyable with great views and plenty of challenging bunkers. Will definitely try again in more favourable conditions.
Great course
Always enjoy playing here course in great condition some great holes and layout and it's a bargain of a price too £15 for an 18 hole course is fantastic value
Best Value Golf in the UK
Okay, it's a hotel course, so no real clubhouse feel but for £15 I don't think you are going to getter better value for your money anywhere in the UK. Course is in great condition. The layout is fantastic with great views from the first 7 holes. Nobody there playing, we saw two other pairs the entire round. Go and play this course and you won't be disappointed.
