Marriott Hollins Hall Country Club

Played this course in a very strong wind so this might be biasing this review. Strong winds and sloping layouts meant that your ball frequently rolled off the fairway into the near rough. This wa so dense that you could pretty much forget about finding your ball which was a shame. Aside from this the course is enjoyable with great views and plenty of challenging bunkers. Will definitely try again in more favourable conditions.

Always enjoy playing here course in great condition some great holes and layout and it's a bargain of a price too £15 for an 18 hole course is fantastic value

Okay, it's a hotel course, so no real clubhouse feel but for £15 I don't think you are going to getter better value for your money anywhere in the UK. Course is in great condition. The layout is fantastic with great views from the first 7 holes. Nobody there playing, we saw two other pairs the entire round. Go and play this course and you won't be disappointed.

We played midweek with a buggy at a bargain price for two. It's a course you need to play your shots to get the best out of it and enjoy the full potential of the course. Big greens and wide fairways. I play off 10 and shot a 84 from yellows. I hit all fairways bar one that went in a bunker at 270 yards. Missed one par 3 green. But 3 putted on 9 holes as I'm not used to putting from so far away where I would generally chip on. Look forward to another round.

Sadly on arrival we had been double booked and had to wait for a later tee slot. Two men in front of us clearly were very drunk, they were waiting for the greens to clear on par 4’s before teeing off and then taking 7 plus shots to get there.

It’s such a shame that Hollins lets anyone play - the round wasn’t cheap but it spoilt it for us taking 5 hours to get round. We suggested to the chaps they should tee off only to receive a load unpleasant responses.

There have been several negative reviews at Hollins Hall in the last year or so. Usually I have found the course to be similar to those reviews- fairways with long grass (clumps of mowed grass around), bunkers not great, greens not the best. However this time I think the course was great and also the weather was kind- it’s much more enjoyable- given the last 8 months has been non stop rain.

If the club keeps up this standard it’s definitely worth the price of the green fee. Fingers crossed that they keep it like this - nice sand in bunkers- grass on fairways cut nicely etc. The layout is great too so this is back on the list for me…keep up the good work guys!

Great value for money through the golf now app . Friendly staff , great facilities and a course in good condition . A fair test for all levels

Paid good money to play a course that wa in terrible condition due to weather mainly. The greens were terrible. When. Course is in that state, it should definitely be a reduced rate. Won’t return.

Disappointed that there was a lot of dead grass cuttings in the rough today. Hard to find your balls under the clumps of dead grass. Still boggy and the drainage was not good. Greens inconsistent throughout and not mown for a few days it felt.

Used to be a decent standard when it was a Marriott hotel years ago. Probably worth 18 pounds a round and not the 25 paid today. There are better courses out there for the money we paid today. Hopefully this was a one off. If it dries out then would have been improved. Still lacks on course facilities although the buildings are there. Would be hesitant to play again until I saw a better review.

Pretty good condition considering April's weather, greens great, lost a few balls on the fairways under the recently cut fairways cutting though which was a bit annoying. But a great hot deal at £14

For £15 the golf is definitely worth it. Probably wouldn’t pay more just with the bar and everything being so overpriced but definitely worth £15

Very wet course(to be expected) no trolleys, but was offered a lighter bag to carry my clubs 2 holes shut and 2 holes shortened one of them their signature hole which turned into a pitch and putt. Play was unbelievably slow we had a buggy and played the opening 2 holes again because of the back up. I’ve played this in summer and was good just disappointed about the trolleys and lack of communication
