Marriott Hollins Hall Country Club

There have been several negative reviews at Hollins Hall in the last year or so. Usually I have found the course to be similar to those reviews- fairways with long grass (clumps of mowed grass around), bunkers not great, greens not the best. However this time I think the course was great and also the weather was kind- it’s much more enjoyable- given the last 8 months has been non stop rain.

If the club keeps up this standard it’s definitely worth the price of the green fee. Fingers crossed that they keep it like this - nice sand in bunkers- grass on fairways cut nicely etc. The layout is great too so this is back on the list for me…keep up the good work guys!

Great value for money through the golf now app . Friendly staff , great facilities and a course in good condition . A fair test for all levels

Paid good money to play a course that wa in terrible condition due to weather mainly. The greens were terrible. When. Course is in that state, it should definitely be a reduced rate. Won’t return.

Disappointed that there was a lot of dead grass cuttings in the rough today. Hard to find your balls under the clumps of dead grass. Still boggy and the drainage was not good. Greens inconsistent throughout and not mown for a few days it felt.

Used to be a decent standard when it was a Marriott hotel years ago. Probably worth 18 pounds a round and not the 25 paid today. There are better courses out there for the money we paid today. Hopefully this was a one off. If it dries out then would have been improved. Still lacks on course facilities although the buildings are there. Would be hesitant to play again until I saw a better review.

Pretty good condition considering April's weather, greens great, lost a few balls on the fairways under the recently cut fairways cutting though which was a bit annoying. But a great hot deal at £14

For £15 the golf is definitely worth it. Probably wouldn’t pay more just with the bar and everything being so overpriced but definitely worth £15

Very wet course(to be expected) no trolleys, but was offered a lighter bag to carry my clubs 2 holes shut and 2 holes shortened one of them their signature hole which turned into a pitch and putt. Play was unbelievably slow we had a buggy and played the opening 2 holes again because of the back up. I’ve played this in summer and was good just disappointed about the trolleys and lack of communication

Only managed 6 holes due to playability. After loads of rain in recent weeks the course is saturated. Having said that it looks in good condition and some of the holes look great. Looking forward to a few rounds here in better conditions. Staff seem great though and green fee was only £10 so can’t complain.

I have played hollins hall many times and I love this course but this time was very wet and boggy , greens were in good shape and the staff are great

Other than the greens which were in good condition the course was in a very poor condition with little grass on some tees and very patchy fairways.

I have played this course in the past when it was in a great condition si was extremely disappointed.

Just a joke of a golf course in poor winter condition. Currently on the 9th and can’t wait to get off this pathetic excuse for a golf course. Muddy and badly maintained and the holes are buddies so far into the greens they are virtually overgrown. AVOID!!!!

This is a hilly course, with significant distance between some greens and tees so not for the faint hearted. The layout is interesting and the course could potentially be an excellent challenge if it was suitably maintained. Although the greens and fringes were quite good, the remainder of the course leaves a lot to be desired. Uncut fairways like semi-rough and difficult to distinguish from the overgrown rough.

Wouldn’t choose to play again in this condition

Great course well set out great holes really enjoy playing here apart from that walk to the first hole ha ha but would definitely recommend playing here
