Lovely course
It was a lovely day for a round of golf, the first hole was out of action but that was due to a renovation which is fair enough and we was offered the opportunity to play another hole if we wanted to make it up to 18. Some of the holes are very challenging (my first time playing a round of golf so might seem easier to others) but that only adds to the fun of it. Very nice surroundings and the course is well looked after. Jason from the team that manages the course was very pleasant and friendly.
When I arrived at the course I was told that only 17 holes where being played( which I didn't mind as I only payed £10) some of the holes are on temp greens and a lot shorter then when I played it previously it looks like the greens have been permanently fenced off so not sure if they will be used again but like I said I only paid £10 for my round so not to bad. If I was having to pay the full amount of £36 I would have been disappointed, overall good facility's and would recommend to friends but not paying the full price
No where near as good as it use to be
Firstly £15 each on a hot deal was well over the odds for May. We had 3/4 temp greens the 1st hole was out of action and 1 original hole had been made into a par 4 n a par 3. Then to top it off the greens was also in a terrible condition. I won't be going back and I know the others I played with won't be either
Thank you for your review, we are sorry you have not enjoyed your experience. The course is currently benefitting from a £250,000 investment which means the course will not always be in tip top condition. There are however special offers every day of the week for visitors (starting from just £5) which we hope creates excellent value for money and whilst reflecting the ongoing works. We are hoping to have all 18 holes open in early June.
Poor Overall
Not very happy with the course, arrived expecting to play the full 18 holes only to be told by the pro that the 1st hole was out of play and the course was a completely different layout, as we played round there were 3 temporary greens and parts of the course seemed like we were on a pitch and put. Not good at all and nothing stating these changes on the course website that I could see! Will not be going back for the foreseeable future.
Played Owston Park 9 hole course next door and would advise that rather than this course
Thank you for your comments and we are sorry you have not enjoyed your experience. The course is currently going through a £250,000 investment which means there will be evidence of this during the 2017 season. There are however special offers every day of the week for visitors (starting from just £5). We are also hoping to have 18 holes open at the start of June.
Awful at the moment
Tee was booked for 7.20am, arrived at 7am to find no one in the golf shop waited 10 mins and gave up, so had to play the round without a card. Seems a lot of works are going on at the moment so you only get to play 17 holes!! No mention of this before booking it or on arrival. Also a lot of the holes have been shortenened/changed so no par 5's and a lot of temp greens. As we didn't have a card was guessing our way round the course. After the round raised all this in the shop (glad to say Someone was there when we finished) not so much as an apology or explanation to what's going on. Shocking service and course at the moment, won't be going near the place for a long time.

Based on current progress the new course reconfiguration will be complete at the start of June with all 18 holes of the new configuration open. We are also sorry you did not get the service you expected we are continually trying to improve.
Disgraceful course
First time playing the course, appauling how they can charge up to 36 pounds for a round on this course, don't tell you that you only play 17 holes, course is in horrendous condition, greens are terrible, chunks taken out of them and filled with sand, temp greens, no par 5s, big green fences put up in the middle of old holes, par 3s in the middle of old par 4s, avoid this course at any cost!

Disappointing experience.
Having played this course on numerous occasions in the past, we were very disappointed to find out on arrival that the course was undergoing a major redevelopment. This meant that there were only 17 holes to play. There was no mention of the work on their website.
A number of holes were either shortened from their original length, which meant temporary greens.
A hole was seemingly botched in order to create two holes.
The majority of the greens were very poorly maintained, with massive bare patches and unevenness.
It seems that due to the redevelopment the whole course has been massively neglected.
I feel rather cheated. I will not be returning.

Building site
Hi, I've played Owston Hall many times but this is the last....
There's so many changes going on it's criminal to charge a green fee
The greens are appalling, the 1st hole you play is the second hole on the card if you get me, you don't play a no 1 because at the minute there isn't one, so the lad in the golf shop said just play any hole you want to make up.....
The back half of the course is all fenced off so it isn't as long, they've plonked in a couple par 3s instead of the par 5s with tempgreens....it's a crying shame what they've done, never mind charging to play
The fairways weren't as bad but the greens I've seen better down the local park.
Overall....stay away, walk the course before you pay your money....
Owston pay an play 9 hole is in nick

Based on current progress the new configuration should be completed in early June with all 18 holes open.
We do hope to welcome you back to Owston Hall so you can experience the changes.
booking my round with teeofftimes.com was very easy.
Its just a shame that the course is under reconstruction, so the course layout as changed from when I last played owston too many temporary greens. If they can close the footpath in the middle of the course it would make a big difference to the vandalism caused around the course. I will play it again when the course is finished..
Thanks for your feedback - we are hoping to have the configuration completed for early June with all 18 holes open and improving as we continue the work. We look forward to welcoming you back.
Disappointed
Played this course lots of times always enjoyed it not now did not like the changes that have been made hope they are only temporary
Thanks for the feedback - we are currently investing £250,000 into the course and hope to have the new layout open in early June. We will be continuing the work throughout the 2017 season. We hope you will like the new layout when you return!
Course changes are not good
Course now changed to a lower par course. plenty of temporary fairway greens. All the good par 5s gone!
£12 PLUS £1 booking fee was not worth the money at all.
Thanks for your feedback, we are currently investing £250,000 into the course. The new layout should be open in early June and we will be continuing the works during the 2017 season. There are some excellent visitor rates starting from just £5 which we hope represents excellent value. Hopefully you can come back and check out the new course layout later in the season.
Lots of repairs happening
The course lay out completely changed and lots of work going on. It will take a good year for it to mature now.
Course mid renovations
You can see that the course will be outstanding when the half a million renovations are complete. The course will then be championship standard. However at the moment only 17 holes are playable and several shortened by temporary tees or greens. However we only paid £6 each so can't really complain, but it would have been nice to know the conditions beforehand. Saying that, the staff and the owston hall was excellent and will be a great weekend break when everything is done.
We appreciate the feedback and it would be great to welcome you back when the course renovations are complete. We hope to have the new layout ready for early June but will be continuing work to improve the course throughout 2017.
Wouldn't play again
Played this course yesterday and can safely say I won't be playing it again. When we arrived we were told that they only actually had 17 holes, with 3 of those being on temporary greens.
There is clearly work being done to the course as they appear to have sold or lost land as there were no fences up in parts of the course, cutting a few holes in half to make them half the distance. The temporary greens were barely different to the fairways, and the permanent greens that remained were in an awful condition on some holes (see pic).
The bunkers had little sand in them so it was difficult to play a bunker shot, especially with there being no rakes on the course so you were always likely to end up in someone else's prints.
Overall I would definitely say it isn't worth playing with far better courses in the area.
Avoid until work complete
We returned to Owston after 3 years to find a big green fence across what was the 4th! There was no one in the proshop for our early tee off so we were not informed the course is undergoing huge changes. Temporary greens, poor signage, holes now gone and the old greens in terrible condition the worst I've seen in a long time, I was informed later of vandalism, we were so pleased we got a £6 deal on tee off times. We got a map and card after the 9th but we couldn't wait to get off. We always enjoyed the course before but will not return until the work is finished (2 years approximately). Please don't pay slot to play here you will be disappointed.
nice fairways
regular play this course, and keep going back knowing how fantastic it can be.
i find to appreciate this course the more i play it. for first timers it can feel rather long and featureless.
Fairways are in very good kempt but greens at the moment arre struggling.(will come good).
Decent Winter Golf
The fairways were in very good condition , shame that three or four greens were in poor condition and no rakes in the bunkers but all in all a good round of winter golf will definitely go back as although a longish course its easy walking
Did i not like that
Turned up with my 2 friends expecting to play a top course.. From the off on the 1st tee we noticed no rakes at the bunkers (non at any), the greens were very very poor, tyre marks on some off them, holes, bald patches etc etc.. Overall i was expecting more more and thought the feel off the course had that of a run down council run course..£15 so got it cheap but will never ever be going back..
Thanks for the feedback. The course is currently undergoing a £250,000 investment and we are working hard to get this completed ASAP - appreciate your patience and understanding!
