Enjoyable, if slow, round
Second time playing Romanby and it is a good course. Friendly and helpful in the pro shop. Tees, fairways and greens all in good condition, especially for March in northern England. The only bug-bear was the pace of play. We were a two, following another two following several fourballs. It meant we, and the pair in front, had to wait on every tee, most fairway shots and every shot in to a green. Can't clubs separate twoballs and fourballs to make play a bit quicker? Will have to avoid Saturdays there going forward, which is a shame as I like the course.
A gem
Really enjoyed our visit. The course is beautifully set up and some of the holes are stunning. The only down side for us was that the greens have been recently hollowtined and were a bit bumpy. The staff and members were very friendly, the pace of play was excellent and the 11th hole is one of the most picturesque we have ever played. We will certainly visit again in the summer.
Poor pace
Fantastic course, however we had a four ball of membersin front of us (2ball) and they wouldn’t let you play through even though there was nobody in front of them. We have played here before and most of the members we spoke to are great. Just the odd bad ones who don’t like guests
First time experience
Ecellent all departments. Would recommend giving it a go.
Course great for time of year
Course in good condition considering, playing on all greens, staff very helpful and friendly.
Would be nice to be able to find out the condition of the course ( whether tees and greens are in play) from golf now or the courses Website.
The corse condition, could have been better
I’ve played the course before and it was much better condition. The tea boxes grass was in my opinion too long and the fairways length of grass they couldn’t distinguish between the rough or the fairway. I appreciate it’s winter but playing the other courses you’re generally chased around by groundsman cutting grass et cetera. I had a good round but course conditions did affect my play. I am not a diva however I did think that the groundskeeping has been left for awhile. Last time I played the course was emasculate in the summer a few years ago.
Great course
Played here for the first time today, a lovely course
Just outstanding
For the time of the year it is the course is in fantastic condition in fact a have played courses in the summer time that don’t play as nice as this course in November well done to the ground staff
Fantastic
Played a 3 ball went round in 3.45 hours again faantastic
Fantastic
Really nice course, well looked after and a good mixture of challenging holes. Drove down from Newcastle and was 100% worth it. Will be back.
Super course
Well maintained course with great greens and some super long par 5’s. The pie’s and beer are ace too.
Certainly worth a visit.
The course is well laid out with some interesting holes around water/marsh features. The greens were very good for mid Oct as were the tee areas. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.
Little gem in North Yorkshire
I had been told good things about this course and i wasn't disappointed, nice club house, driving range and very friendly staff and members and a cracking price was had, the course is a little hilly so i hired a buggy a little surprised buggys were allowed late in the season but course was dry enough, tees were scuff free and the course was well maintained with good greens running true, a nice touch was a ash felt path running along the side of the course so easy for a first timer to navigate if they want to cut short a round ,all in all a great day.
