Very good
Decent course
Flat and greens were at a good pace
Middle of the fairway
The course was holding a lot of water. Tee shots were lost even when hitting fairways due to balls plugging. Zero carry on shots less in to greens which were firm and fluffy meaning the ball rolled but not true. Rough and semi rough was penal and longer then most courses, possibly down to the standing water preventing cutting. A tight course that will be better as things dry up.
Staff were friendly. Off course amenities limited.
The course was in dire condition when I played it in March 2023. All tee boxes were off mats, greens were covered in mud/worms and the fairways were bare. I was a one ball and it took almost 3 hours to complete the front 9 with the group behind me constantly hitting in to me despite me not being able to play as the groups in front were waiting too. To top it off only 16 holes were open which I did not know when I booked as it was advertised at an 18 hole round on GolfPass...
I understand it isn't perfect time of year to play but pace of play was truly shocking. It's a shame as the staff all seemed really friendly and the grounds the course is located on has the potential for a good gold course.
Nice Track
Ruddington is a lovely track. The day I played it only 16 holes were in play and the tees were well forward in some places but it was still well worth it. Go play it
Loved this course
Stumbled on this course when I was working away from home and loved it. Really challenging but the pay off on some holes for playing the risk was awesome!
Paired up with some random member and had a great round with some good company and some great advise.
Staff were friendly and a 4 ball of lovely older lady’s let me play through…… on the first tee!
100% recommend and would love to play there again some day.
Very good greens for winter
Positive:
Brand new custom built winter tees on most holes
Recently maintained hazard areas (removed brush and debris)
Well maintained green considering time of year
Friendly club house
Short game area
Practice green
Two practice nets
Negative:
no real driving range
Some paths need resurfacing
Ruddington Grange is a great course with…
Ruddington Grange is a great course with some real challenging holes. Conditions where great to say about the heatwave this summer. Would recommend to a mid to advanced player, a really great day out…
Challenging
Course in good condition for the weather we have had. It’s quiet tight in places so you have to be on your game. So that makes it more interesting and fun.
Beautiful
Lovely corse with some brilliantly laid out holes. Some simple and some challenging. Well groomed, greens in superb condition as always. 1 or 2 different from the norm par 3's, a good mix of par 4's with some long ones and some that temp a go at the green. And all the par 5's are great, either well laid out or tight within the tree line to compensate for being a shirt par 5. And to top it off its actually a nice walk round. Very well maintained, with lots of stunning mixes of trees and flowers to make it a little more aesthetically pleasing. Well done Ruddington. Will definitely be returning, maybe a member one day.
