Scarborough North Cliff GC V Scarborough South Cliff GC

After playing the South Cliff GC last year, this we had try the competition...Both courses are very good courses, but for me the North Cliff just pipped it. As for catering the the south cliff don’t serve food after 5pm as of this time, last year. But the North Cliff have full bar catering and if you pre book full restaurant, so again the North Cliff wins...

Thanx for a great day! Just my opinion...

Attractive course in good condition

Picked up a bargain internet deal at this really nice course. Despite the time of year, the course was well-presented with an attractive layout and a good variety of holes. Highly recommended.

A Course of 2 parts

I visited North Cliff with a friend who has moved to the area and who is seeking a new club.

The booking was easy though the site and we got a Hot Deal at about 50% of the usual green fee.

On arrival the Pro Shop was easily seen, and the Pro was welcoming and gave us some great advice on the course, and a code to access the locker room. This was tidy and very welcome with lockers for visitors.

The 1st tee is spectacular with views over the sea to the castle. A strong westerly wind was challenging for those with a 'power fade' drive.

The first 2 and last 3 holes are played on the cliff side of the main road, The remainder of the holes are on a parkland style area which is reminiscent of Portugal with the pine tree fringed fairways.

Spectacular views abound, but with a 4 to 5 club wind, playing was a challenge.

Pace of play was not really an issue as the course was quiet. Preferred lies were in operation, but the fairways were dry and in excellent condition. Greens and approaches had been deep tined about 10 days previously, we had been advised, but they were varied in their playability.

The clubhouse offered a good choice of drinks and offered great views over the bay.

I'd love to return in less challenging conditions.

Castle Views

Great views of Scarborough Castle when playing the 1,2,16,17 and 18th holes. The rest of the coarse is laid out in a beautiful parkland setting.

Well worth playing.

Very impressed

Great course to play on a terrible day! Came to Scarborough on a couples weekend and decided to play golf instead of sitting in the pub watching football whilst the ladies go shopping, not being put off by the weather we solidered on and luckily it turned for the better to reveal a fantastic course with a great layout, looking past the fact that understandably the course was on temporary greens all 5 players were very impressed and agreed that it would be amazing to play in full bloom, hopefully we get the chance to do that.

Excellent course!

Was visiting family in Scarborough and decided to have a round as well. Managed to get a hot deal for £21 which was a fair price! Once over the road to the 3rd course becomes lovely, very picturesque and course in amazing condition! Challenging but fair!

The only down side was the amount of people on course! Waiting at almost every tee on the back 9. Should space the tee off times out a little to avoid this.

Walked

Played with 3 friends (who all play off 28) on a golf weekend. We had assumed more holes would overlook the sea based on the name of the course. Established tree lined course. Greens in good condition. Many holes seemed very similar and just straight. Booked tee time as a HOT Deal so just £20 which was an amazing bargain.

Very nice course

Played on a breezy day - tough first 5 holes into the wind! A deceptively good & interesting course - particularly as you cross the road for holes 3-15 - in great condition. Friendly pro shop and clubhouse - definitely worth a visit! I will be back

Winter greens a nightmare

6 of us booked through teeofftines ..

turned up .terrible weather but we didn't mind ...we were the only ones on the course . Should have really been closed

we did did ring up about winter wheels which wasn't required as course was okay , should have been informed it was winter greens .. nothing on tee off times or the club website ...disappointed as we traveled 1hr 45mins to get there for this . Wouldn't have botherd..

Course would be great in the summer great layout once you cross the road .. will give it another go in the summer..
