Costal course...
It’s a really nice coastal golf course with holes right down the coast, very challenging with the wind off the sea. It’s says 6000 yards off the yellows but seems much longer with the walks between the holes and undulations....Would Recommend...
Only problem was catering go home at 4.30pm in the 19th hole...
Recovered from the wet
A hot day after a long wet spell meant a very busy course and slow pace of play. The course played pretty considering the recent weather.
Great day
Even with the poor weather, the course was great. Staff were very friendly and hospitable. Would recommend this course to anyone. The views were fantastic.
best of both
Mixture of 50% links 50 % parkland. Very good condition. Prefer to Scarborough north.
Scarborough Fair
Scarborough South Cliff GC is close to the renowned Oliver's Mount motorcycle track on the south side of the glorious seaside town. The first few holes are parkland before crossing a road and a bridge to tackle the cliff-top holes looking north towards Scarborough and the castle. All the holes are different. It's par 72 with 4 straightforward par 5s, but not unduly long. There are a couple of tricky out-of-bounds on the left, including the 18th overlooked by nice houses, but the course is fair and not too demanding for average golfers. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will certainly play there again.
Enjoyable Round
Have played South Cliff a number of times and have always enjoyed it. This time the greens were in a poor condition as they are suffering with a fungus that is affecting them which is disappointing. The staff as always very welcoming and friendly and the food was of good quality. I will definitely play the course again as I know the greens are usually better so hope they recover soon as it is a great course.
This course have great views of the coast
The course divides into two, one part being along the coast which provides you with great views of Scarborough. The second is as you would expect of a parkland course.
The course was in good condition, played long but was enjoyable.
Great Course, Great Day
Brilliant course in great condition. Some very challenging holes, with great sea views. Greens and fairways very good, very few on course and pace of play excellent. Will play again soon.
challenging in the wind
good greens
quite a tight course
enjoyable and challenging
Wide-boy pro shop staff, with poor attitude towards bargain hunting visitors!
Customer facing, Pro shop staff, clearly in the wrong job.. Attitude to visitors was really poor, and they seem to hold the fact you use a golf deal website like Golfnow against you as opposed to paying their inflated visitor fee direct to them!
Also had issues before when trying to use 241 vouchers, they take them, but don't actually allow two golfers to play for one day rate greenfee!
Bizarrely they have problems understanding how that particular scheme works in practice!
Unfriendly, unhelpful, curt, and bordering on rude!
Course layout is actually quite good, conditions sadly not so great.. Facilities are decent enough, nice clubhouse, and staff inside a level or two above those in the pro shop, although we waited over 20 minutes to get a drink, whilst the solitary bar staff was away changing a barrel!
Two new holes once you come back over the main road, are a reall let down compared with the rest of the course, with the look, and feel being out of place, best holes are the the last four or five into the clubhouse!
Go play Filey or North Cliff instead, both are a cut above!
south cliff
Overall the golf course was in good condition but the greens were very poor which was a shame.
Golf review
The course was in good condition and everybody was freindly they even let us play in the competition which was a bonus
Scarborough Fantastic
Played thursday 130pm in glorious sunshine with fantastic views. The greens were in excellent condition for the time of year hollow tined but smooth, course well maintained. Once you play thr opening two holes and cross the bridge you enter the part of the course with stunning views over cliffs looking up to Scarborough then when you think it cant get any better than this you enter the back nine which produces more inland gems, Very enjoyable.
