Great course and staff poor greens
Very interesting course tough but fair slow play from society x 3 tee times in front of us. interesting holes everywhere on the course nice par 3s 2 things let it down the greens where very poor ball bobbling more than an old sweater not just because hollow tined and sanded week b4 lots of large dead spots.
Approach into 18 was interesting as birthday party was running on and off green and where less than 2ft off back. Like a grandstand.
in total will try it again maybe earlier to avoid another 4hr 25 min round
Nice well run club
It is an interesting course with a nice mix of holes.
As with all urban courses there is some tight holes with out of bounds down the side of a few holes but if you avoid a massive hook you should be ok.
A test of one’s mettle
I absolutely love this course and this was my second visit. The first was in the middle of winter and it played brilliantly then, also. The greens, on this occasion were recently seeded and sanded which made them tricky to negotiate but the course was absolutely stunning. On visiting the shop to confirm our tee time we were met with a warm welcome which sets this course apart from others I could mention. That, along with friendly fellow golfers around the course made a great Sunday stroll across one of the most challenging and picturesque landscapes in the northwest. This course is hilly and unforgiving on the legs right up to the 18th green. It was a pleasure.
Day after heavy snow
Played this course a few times now and rarely disappoints. Played the day after heavy snow and high winds.
Course was a lot drier than the majority would be after these conditions. Course open fully with all 18 usual greens in play too.
Well worth a visit, shame my score didn’t reflect how I thought I played.
89 scored. handicap 11
Stunning Golf Course & Great Value for Money
Really enjoyable fun golf course with 3 or 4 fantastic signature holes. Wind was up so a tough challenge. Incredibly welcoming and helpful clubhouse staff. Will certainly be back again
Good Course
In good condition and offers different challenges. Greens slightly slower than ideal but certainly not poor. Would happily play again.
*****
First time playing Stand yesterday.
Course was in excellent condition. Greens fast but receptive. Fairways immaculate. Tee boxes and all other areas tidy.
Though not the longest, it asks plenty of questions off the tee. Position is key. Great fun to play. Will definitely return.
Very enjoyable.
Always enjoy playing at Stand gc, course in very good condition, fairways/tee blocks/greens etc, very good lay out, a bit hilly in places but didn't find it a problem.
Met 4 ex captain's who were a credit to their club, very friendly and informative guys.
Definitely recommend Stand gc.
A gem
Very good course. A lot of different holes and not easy. Would definitely recommend.
Gem of a course!
Don’t let the yardage fool you. I played off the white tees and this course is challenging. Some holes are monsters if the wind direction is into. It is tight in the right places and beautiful rolling fairways means challenging second shots. Greens were immaculate with fair slopes.
This will be on my itinerary whenever I visit family in Oldham. Definitely playing here again. Got to try and match my chip in eagle on 12 and the 13th par three is such a good par three - I could easily stand in the tee with a bucket of balls!
This course would be perfect if there was slightly ‘nicer’ tee signage and better yardage markers from the fairway. But those are my ‘would like to see’ thoughts.
Friendly pro at the shop and everyone I played through were chatty and friendly.
Great round!
Hidden gem
1st time playing here and it’s a excellent course hidden away.
Wet conditions but greens superb. Imagine in nice weather they would be super fast. It’s a course that deserves to be enjoyed but the pace of play was incredibly slow to the point both my playing partner and I came away disappointed. May have just been bad luck on our part so will defo be going again as like I say it’s a great course and deserves to be played and enjoyed
Undulating course.
I have played this course a few times and it offers a good level of interest and variation.
There is very little water on the course, but there are plenty of other hazards to keep you interested.
The course is very undulating, especially the 4th through to 11th where shot selection off the tee often requires some thought rather than just pulling out the big stick every time.
The condition of the course was immaculate, as it is generally known to take water well.
I have played a few times in the winter, and only on one occasion was the 4th and 5th holes shortened to some areas of waterlogged fairways.
