Such a shame
I’d played this course a couple of years ago and was looking forward to returning but the place has really gone downhill. The course should be so nice but it is just not looked after properly. The bunkers are filled with the wrong type of sand and are rock hard, the fairways need a cut, the greens are not as good as last time and the rough is a joke. It has been allowed to grow so deep and thick that if you go in it you need a miracle to find your ball and, even if you do, another miracle to be able to get it back on the fairway. The 16th hole is ridiculous. A long par 3, many players’ only hope of being able to find their tee shot is to land it on a thin strip of cut grass down the middle. The staff are nice and the clubhouse is smart but this is a course in desperate need of some love.
Worst course in Surrey
This course has prompted me to write my first review; it's that bad. The tees are a mess, the bunkers all resemble the Rockies, and the greens are atrocious. And the design just feels forced, a bit like fitting a square peg in a round hole. Of the hundreds of courses I have played, this is by far the worst. It's right next to Kingswood, so do yourself a favour and go and play there.
Great little track
Really like this course. Some enjoyable testing holes. Not all driver either. Positioning off the tee is required. Course in good condition except the greens. Have had yearly maintenance works and need a bit more time.
Surrey Hills cancelled the tee time but did not provide a full refund
Saturday morning I got a call saying my tee time was cancelled due to the course being closed due to rain, other than being slightly irritated by this they did not end up providing a full refund or the option to book onto another day. I feel ripped out and very much outraged that a golf club would be so disrespectful to someone who is booked to play on their course. also, even though they cancelled at 10 am by 1.30 pm the weather had cleared up and the had been for at least 2 hours, allowing for the course to dry out.
I have seen the greens in better condition here but course generally in reasonable shape - despite no rain for ages - and it is an interesting and fair course for the handicap golfer.
Nice course, greens need some work
Lovely course on the top of the downs with scenic views. The tee boxes and fairways are in very good condition, however the greens are currently being repaired. Even some patches on the green are GUR.
Shame about societies
Really enjoyed playing this course.
The course was certainly tricky as I am a new golfer and still learning etc however still very enjoyable.
Great open fairways and quick greens which definitely caught me out at first! Wide range of par threes, fours and fives which is great to test all types of shots.
Only issue for me was that there were seven four balls in front of us from a society which slowed the pace down so much there were two groups in front of us at every tee waiting to tee off. When it was our turn there were two groups waiting too so felt like we had to rush. Obviously this isn’t the clubs fault but did dampen the day a little.
Only other issue was in the bar, only two draught beers on with the majority of lines off sale. The only two on were coors light and carling. Hardly the greatest beers! Bottle of Peroni instead. definitely needs better beers!
Scenic and challenging
Set in the beautiful Surrey hills this is a challenging 18 holes which provides plenty of opportunity to test your driver and long iorns. The course is still under some early season maintenance and the greens play very fast. I will be returning in a few weeks when the results of this maintenance should make for a great course. Unfortunately the club house was closed but again this should be open in the coming weeks.
Greens were very disappointing and almost unplayable. They were sandy on every hole and therefore putting a total lottery
Nice course
Nice course, generally well maintained, greens weren’t the best but can’t expect much more for the time of year. £27 for a round isn’t too bad either!

Great course, in fantastic condition! Highly recommend
