Towneley Golf Club

Booked my round through golf now, on the day the course was closed due to snowfall could not get through to golf now to get a refund, so decided to ring the club and they managed to rearrange my booking for the week after. Happy golfers now.

Great variety bit "tin hat" around the 11th but good all round.

Played on a very wet day but it was still enjoyable and the course was in good condition considering the amount of rain that fell the day/night before .

Always enjoy playing Towneley Golf Course,especially in lovely Autumn sunshine.

Its a good test of your game,and its always in good condition.

This has got to be one day f the best municipal courses in the north west. The course is in great condition in terms of fairways and greens and there are plenty of great looking and interesting holes.

The views up there are incredible - especially on a sunny day. The staff are always friendly and a round is brilliant value for money.

The only criticism is that because it is a municipal you can often get players on there who have not played before and can slow down play a lot for everyone else not just because they are struggling but also because they have no awareness of the etiquette and how to keep play moving at a decent pace for everyone else.

As a regular player on this course I find the best and quietest times to play are in the evening or at the weekend from around 4pm.

This course at £12 was excellent value for money. I play off 6 but not a member at a club, I travel to two different courses each week and this did not let us know.

Really good condition, greens a little slow and the course is a little short but it’s well laid out and just a lovely experience.

Thoroughly recommend for the price.

My one criticism, and this goes for all municipals - why is there no dress code etiquette. People playing in jeans, joggers isn’t right when playing golf (in my opinion)

Great course easy to walk but challenging to play and certainly will play it again, nice dog-leg first to start the round.

After the game we had a drink in the club house and the staff was very welcoming (see you soon).

The course was in beautiful condition. Fairways and greens were immaculate. We only paid £13 each. It’s the best value round of golf we’ve played. Can’t wait to play it again.

Last played Townley about 10 years ago,thought we'd give it a go and was blown away by the condition of the course.The greens are in top condition, and its a real test of your ability.

Despite what seems like a month of heavy rain, the course was still in good condition.

Course is in great condition and kne for opening up the shoulders as most fairways are quite forgiving. Greens have been in excellent condition all summer

The problem is you get players just walking on and squeezing between bookings and play is then slow. Took me lost 5 hours and I was on my own as two guys, in Jean's and walking boots jumped on I'm front of me. I also encountered players in ripped Jean's and football shirts who played the entire round with a 3 wood...even on the green!

I'm mo golf snob but surely if you have paying members or want to charge the same rate as some private clubs this needs addressing.

A great municipal course.

Conditions were good. A couple of hills but quite flat considering the location. 4/5 holes up and down the hill.

Greens were decent considering time of year.

I would recommend this course and might even bring my society.

It cost £13.50 for 18 holes playing proper greens. What more do you need.

Revisited after many years of not playing Townley. Had a great afternoon on a hot deal and thoroughly enjoyed our game. Course in excellent condition.

Played this course many times and always gives value for money. Greens ok not brilliant, fairways well cut. A good course for any handicap player, quite wide fairways but smallish greens, few holes with out of bounds but not many ditches. Well maintained course, car park could do with being bigger as nearly always full as shared for other amenities. Excellent value for money and would recommend you try it, not very hilly and quite good pace of play.
