Towneley Golf Club

I have played many times in past year.

The course is quite exceptional for a municipal course and is as good as most golf courses in the North west.

Over the winter a couple of green's have had much needed Maintenance work to improve their playing ability but this has not detracted from the overall playing experience of the course.

Well worth a visit and all the staff are very helpful and friendly 👍🏻

Course in very good condition for this time of the year,had plenty of rain over past few months but not at all boggy

Enjoyed the course overall. Hole 16 and 17 are closed so only played 16. One of the holes has 2 different tee boxes playing over it so it slowed us down as the group in front was very slow and wouldn’t let us play through. So we had to wait behind them while others teed off then wait again when we played the hole. But some very nice challenging holes

Course in good condition. Very nice Bistro at the end although it was closed for a private function that day (I have eaten there before). Tees were mostly mats which was fine although some were tricky to find.

I’m so shocked at how good this course is… located on the outskirts of Burnley town centre and open to visitors I was expecting an average municipal standard. Wow, not here, the course is immaculate green to tee. It’s a challenging enough course but also forgiving so a great place to play if your not a single figure handicapper.

I would recommend this course to anyone within a 45 minute drive.

This was my first time playing Townley and I was really surprised at how nice a course it is. The course was in fantastic condition, the greens were reasonably fast and in great condition. The course has some stunning views and a couple of nice elevated tees. The layout is a good mix, with trees and streams in play to make you think, whilst also being a very forgiving course. To top it off the pro shop sells draught beers!

Played a couple of times now and enjoyed, only complaint was a that the layout isn’t clear when using the winter tees and we missed a 3 holes due to getting confused, couple of signs wouldn’t go a miss. However the course was good even after the poor weather and wouldn’t hesitate to play again .

A real treat course, staff very friendly and helpful, course is good great condition, if it was closer to my home I would make it my home club, will be going back very soon 👍

1st time played for circa 8 years, nice informal round of golf. Other golfers not repairing divots and pitch marks was the only problem
