Took the uncle
I love the course and will hate to see it go private but that will be a couple of years our. My only issue is that we did not know that the greens had been aerated. The course did not notify GolfNow (FOUL!!!!). Other wise I love this course and feel that anybody can play it as long as they play the correct tee's. The practice range is excellent and the layout is a fine Arnold Palmer design. Be ready for sand and some elevated greens but it definitely has character.
Beautiful New Championship Course
Brand new course, excellent manicured conditions. This course is a must play if you're in the area. Gorgeous layout with interesting & challenging holes. The course has some nice elevation changes that you don't normally see on a Florida course. The greens are still hard making it difficult to hold your approach shot on the green surface. The greens are huge with some severe undulations- a signature of the Palmer design company. The tee boxes and fairways were all in pristine condition. The practice area was really great and range balls are included in the green fee. Carts have modern touch screen GPS. Overall this is an excellent, championship caliber course. If you find a HOT DEAL on GL, jump on it - you won't regret it
Second time around was a charm
The first time I went out it poured everything on me and my partner, we only played nine. My second time around was a blast. I would have to say if you do not play this course then you are cheating yourself and all I can say is shame on you. From pulling up to when it was time to leave, I cannot really add any negatives about the course. The carts have GPS which is essential and are in great shape.
The guys picking up your clubs and in the pro shop were friendly and helpful, sorry no carts in the parking lot.
The practice areas are above and beyond excellent.
The t boxes, fairways and greens are in beautiful shape, the greens are not quite receptive yet and that's because they are new.
If you love golf and can appreciate a great layout with multiple sets of tees, some interesting holes and want to play something different then here it is. This course is the one I moved to FL for, hopefully I can get a few more rounds in before it goes private. They are building houses but there are none really interfering with play yet.
Challenging greens
New course (opened in 2017), well manicured, attractive layout. Front nine is pretty wide open, with generous landing areas and no forced carries. Back nine is very different, with some pretty long holes (10 and 12) and narrower targets. Very large greens, some severely sloped, almost unfairly so. Starter warned us that the greens were hard, but they seemed to hold approach shots well (lots of rain previous day probably helped.) No restaurant yet, just the pro shop. But a beverage cart was available. Look forward to playing there again when it's not so wet.
Cant say enough about how special it is.
lenair homes has built the best (public) courses in the local area. Riverstrand, esplanade and Lakewood national. This one opened jan this year. Through the drought this winter and the recent aeration, the maintenance is superior to anywhere I have played this year. Very generous fairways and huge undulating greens. Best grass in the area tee to green. Wish I could afford it in season. Used a hot deal and a 50% off coupon. Thank you golfnow. Staff treated me the same as if I had just payed $120 in season rate. Loved it.
One of the best experiences I've had playing golf in Florida
This golf course is simply awesome greens had recently been arified did not detract from any of the playing played well amenities a little bit lacking but I'm sure once the clubhouse is prepared they will be better the pace of play was excellent staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable
Great New Course
Excellent new course - One of the best in the area- some great designs and interesting features. The course is quite challenging even from the "Palmer" tees at just under 6000 yards and is probably championship standard from the back tees at around 7000 yards. Great experience only lacking a cup of coffee in the pro-shop which would have helped the drying out process after a wet day.
This place is a gem!!
Great layout in a upcoming development. Really can't wait to get back and play it again. It'll be a shame when it goes private. Play it now while you can!
greens have just been airated
would have been nice to know before I played. it was a good chance to check out the course.will definitely be back once the greens are playable again
Tough one
Well, This review is a tough one....first, this course is in OUTSTANDING condition, almost shocking for a new course, I see people complaining about the firmness of the greens, well that how they SHOULD be, not typical Florida mush...more good news, excellent practice facility, well looked after and could practice there every day..MORE good news..The pro shop design , for a "modern" course is just magnificent! modern, huge and kind of the minimalist design..KUDOS to the designer ! one of the best I have ever seen...Pro Shop and outside staff ALL very good!
Now for the not so good news....some of the greens are OVER designed with an OUTRAGIOUS amount of undulation and space, did I say OVER??? Tee to green it's quite good on ALMOST all holes with the glaring exception of #12 which would be a great hole if the back tee was maybe 150 yards NOT the 240 it is to an impossible green! (simple fix there!)....and 10 and 11 I haven't quite figured out If I love them or hate them......(leaning to the latter)....But make no mistake ,this is a GREAT golf course, just might need a few things here and there.....From a mans point of view this course is like the exotically beautiful woman who catches your eye , you know she is going to be a handful, and you just keep asking her out......
New Course...needs some changes
This is a very challenging course...wide open on the front but much narrower on the back. 14 good holes...but 10 and 11 need reworking. No place to drive the ball into the prevailing wind. Greens have numerous dead elephants -- be prepared to be creative in your chipping and putting. A couple other holes seemed to be overly "tricked" up...
All in all a challenging day of golf -- a course that you need to play several times to see exactly how to play it.
Good course, but........
Good course. Everything is solid for a new, up and coming facility, with the exception of one thing that is important to not only me, but to most players. The pace of play...... It is generally slow to very slow. Needs a ranger moving people along
Great layout, greens are extremely firm and the houses being built don't seem to impede the course design . Course is in good shape
Lakewood National Golf Club
The course opened a few months ago so the greens are still hard. This can make club selection difficult because the release your shot can have is hard to predict since the greens are very undulating. Fun course, nice greens speed, nice practice facility. Nothing to eat here is not so good.
