Above expectation
A truly great course. Fairways ample, Greens true. Excellent practice areas, wish I could drop by and spend an hour or so there. Well done ...

Need a marshal
Played twice. Both rounds were 5 hours plus. They don’t have a marshal. Great course. Great layout. Friendly staff. Hit and wait from the first tee to the 18th. Shame. I won’t be back.
first time
This is the first time I played the course.tCourse open up this year. They need more signage for holes. Lots of home and condo were being built and it was difficult to negotiate around the construction. However I am sure this course Lakewood National will be a reallyrics great course as I plan to play in the future.
Lakewood National Golf
This is the best course in Bradenton/ Sarasota. The staff were friendly, polite and prompt in meeting us at the bag drop. The course plays really well with the GPS on the carts. Awesome day.
Great layout
Really liked this course. A lot of character and great layout. Very large undulating greens that were running 11 on stimp meter. Stay below hole. Fairways and greens were in great condition despite newness of course. Put this one on your list. Very nice practice range, putting, chipping, and bunker practice area. Nice putting green next to first tee. Arnold did a nice job designing this one. Got a good rate on golfnow.
Beautiful but Very Tough Around the Fast Greens
Played Saturday morning, 11-4-17. Course condition and layout was great with lots of rolling fairways and heavy bunkering, which makes for a beautiful looking golf course. Many tees to choose from so distance should not be an issue. However the greens were extremely fast (stimp speed sign at 11). The majority of greens have severe slopes and with the fast green speeds made putting and chipping very difficult. This makes the course very difficult for any mid handicapper (10-12) or higher and we played with a 2 handicapper who had a difficult time around the greens. If the course does not slow the green speeds, they will lose a lot of play due to the difficulty along with the longer round time due to extra strokes around the greens. Our round took 4 1/2 hours with little waiting on the group in front and no one pushing us from behind. This is not a 4 hour round course as currently set up. It is ok for fast greens with minimal sloping, but with fast greens and big slopes it plays like Augusta National and the pros struggle there and would also struggle at Lakewood National around the greens.
Great time, great value!
This was the second time playing this course. Much better experience, but they need to keep the pace moving. 5 hours and 15 minutes is too long, especially early morning. Please encourage golfers to play the tees equal to their abilities.
One of the best public course in the area
Championship layout, good course conditions and top facilities so very good valie for the money! Solid Arnold Palmer design, only drawback iare the few greens that have unusual hills and mounds making putting nearly impossible in those areas. Would recommend it to all.
Great time, but.....
Had tee time at 3:00pm and arrived at 2:15pm. When checking in, told they had no carts due to high school golf tournament. Went to practice range and waited until 3:25pm for carts. A large bunch of golfers with assigned tee times on range waiting also. Everyone was released when all the carts started coming back to clubhouse. No cups at water station outside of clubhouse. Brother-in-law tried to be nice and put cups in supply tube. It fell off of water machine and cut his nose. A lot of shoot-and-wait. Course was in beautiful condition.
Tee-Time Delayed One-Hour!
Better management would prevent delays due to cart shortages...
WOW
Lovely course with fast undulating large greens. This is the best bargain we have found in a golf course. Will look for this one again! Nothing negative to say at all. Amazing for a new course.
Great challenge for everyone regardless of handicap.
Best course I've ever played. Challenging but doable, a lot of fun.
Very windy with tricky, undulating greens
The golf course was challenging due to the high winds and a few of the pins were in very tricky positions. You have to be on the right tier of the greens because if you’re not, you will be 3 putting often. Overall, it’s a fun course and you definitely get to use your imagination on this course!
A great new addition to gulf coast golf
A cracking course which is apparently going to be supplemented with another 18 holes. It's a new course and fairway and greens condition is superb, greens at 10 on the stimp. Pace of play will never be great as there a number of long travels between green and next tee. The 4 star rating for course layout reflects this and the fact that there are a couple of silly greens with extreme slopes which are totally ridiculous and mean that part of the green is totally useless. Nevertheless we'll play there again until as with so many other courses it becomes fully private.
Nice new course
Forgiving course with wide fairways and not too much water in play. One of the better courses in the area, but doesn't rival Waterlefe or UPCC.
Marshalls don't play slow.....
