love it
challenging but fun and fair with lots of deer and geese,
Course was more challenging then appeared
First time playing at Willow Park. The fairways are narrow for the most part and has a creek that runs along most of the course specially the front 9. I was most impressed with the greens and thought the hole placements were positioned were you had to think about your club selection on the approach. I will like to play again there again soon.
Fun home course
We went right after all the rains,So the course was very wet and sloppy but I Live 5 minutes away and it is a fun course to play so I will go back and play agian and agian
Oldie but goodie
Still a beautiful course setting. Yes, the tee boxes need work. The course is challenging tight and the ditch
can just suck in your golf ball. A great course to just take in nature on a nice day the scenery can't be beat.
Good for a quick round with friends. The food is off the hook at the restaurant.
Bring all your clubs
Willow Park is a short course that makes you play all the clubs in the bag. The course is easy to walk cart paths are in need of repair greens are slow. The course is in good shape for this time of year.
Play this course now!
The greens are in great shape! The tee boxes and fairways need some serious attention. Once the rains start this course turns into a swamp, and when the creeks are running count on losing a lot of balls.
Good course - great value - nice vistas
Great bargain and nice views from elevated holes. In reasonable shape, with some tough holes and greens. Can usually get on without too much trouble/wait.
play was extremely slow and course was in bad shape
the course needs a lot of attention, poor shape. they need newer
carts, 2 carts needed to be replaced.
A classic
Nestled in a valley in the Diablo range, Willow Park is a very enjoyable course. There are no houses and it's a great nature experience.
The front nine is the more difficult of the two, primarily because there's a creek running down the entire right side of every hole. It'll eat up just about any shot that is pushed or sliced right. You'll definitely lose several balls, and strokes there. Still, the surroundings are so lovely that you'll have a hard time staying angry. There are wild turkeys everywhere. Plus, you get to have the easier back nine to wash away any of the agitation.
Admire the dozen or more deer on the back nine while you go lower on the score card.
You'll definitely want to walk the course. Willow Park is like stepping back in time.
Very scenic place with deer and beautiful wood surroundings.
Very nice course to relax and take in the beautiful area. The road next to the front 9 is a haven for motorcyclist. Their noise can take away for the natural beauty but it not too bad or too often. Staff was minimal but friendly. The course has lot of water hazard that are not filled with water necessarily but are get your ball out of it you are hacker like me. Overall it was a great day with some really nice people on the course.
Friedly course
Willow Park is a relatively flat course, rare in the East Bay, And it is protected from the bay-side winds, unlike the bay-side also flat courses.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. Course has a casual, friendly feel.
Rustic in Castro Valley
Willow Park once hosted professional tournaments but that course is a memory. The narrow fairways and shot making to score are both features you will see if you play the course. Overgrown tee boxes, fairways that are at the same time bald, soggy and overgrown, not to mention ruttled and uneven and greens that need work all exist here. The beauty of this rustic gem is in the hilly surroundings. The flat course sees northern CA hills surrounding it with deer and turkey roaming the grounds making it visually pretty. Course staff was extremely nice and worthy of note.
I was dissapointed in the condition but realized that I got what I paid for.
challenging noticed that tee box is not well maintaned

Willow park
We only saved 2 dollars a person on the fee but it was convenient to make the reservation
What is with Oakland area Municipal courses
I must be spoiled by the municipal courses in Eastern Washington. I played on two municipal courses in the Oakland area this week with Willow Park being one of them.
It appears that the only thing they take care of is the greens! Cart paths are a mess or missing and the fairways are really pastures! I am not saying they are challenging but I have never seen so many burned out or torn up fairways and tee boxes. Again maybe I am spoiled but that is what I found.
Good daily public course
One of the lowest priced 18 hole courses in the area. Definitely worth the green fees. Grass can be frosty in the winter mornings and muddy. Course conditions are a 7 to 8 out of 10. No glaring issues. Holes can get banged up and lips rounded from play but that's what to expect from a public course. Greens were smooth for a public course. Driving range is adequate but the range balls look like they are several years old. Charming is what I would describe the bar and clubhouse. Still has a few gas carts and while not duper dirty, cobwebs were found and the carts have obviously been well used over many years. Marshalls are friendly and do a good job getting people moving appropriately.
Course is fun where there are dog legs around hills. One green has severe slope requiring smart approach shots.
Definitely a course to play on a casual weekend. Weekdays are even better value.
Beautiful setting but...
terribly neglected fairways, over-watered greens.
Hopefully EBMUD will select a new lessee that knows how to care for a course.
Not going to host the PGA, but a good course, nice setting and decent price.
OK, to be honest, its 10 minutes from my house. But the setting is nice and tucked into lower Lake Chabot park. Fairly good shade for a golf course, quiet, not too windy. Greens are usually in good shape and fairways are ok. The fringes can be a bit dry. Some challenging holes but nothing too quirky. Friendly staff and fair price.
Beware the golf ball eating stream on hole one that keeps showing up on the front nine.....
Greens were well maintained
The pace of play was what got my attention and the lack of golf etiquette of a lot of players. It has nothing to do with the course but regarding the pace of play, the marshalls should be able to get players to move along. The players leave ball marks on the greens and not repairing them. Such a shame for a course that the management is trying so hard to keep the course in great condition to have players treat them that way.
The price was right, greens were great
Short course but difficulty is raised by creek that runs through the course on the right of nearly every hole. Course needs to be better marked. Trees need to be trimmed back, they lean out into the fairways and block shots to the green. Greens are old stile but in great shape. Trap have real sand, most of them. Fairways are in poor shape my only real problem with the course- Ed
