Golfer Reviews
Pace of play is good.
Teed off at 7:20am and finished at 11:10am. Course is fun to play. For the conditions the cost is about average. Location is beautiful.
Good course that could use some TLC
Cold and windy for a July day. I'm not my best with an 8AM tee time and a 45 minute drive, but the course was great. The cart paths are so lumpy that it encourages you to drive on the course more than I'm comfortable with. But after a few bumps I felt I had no choice. The layout is good and I enjoyed myself.
Really slow
It seemed like every terrible golfer was out for the day, over 5 hours to play on a super quick track.
Course is fun and interesting and the greens were great.
Great course layout
I'm a low cost golfer and for an 18 hole course under $40 it's pretty dang good.
Nice little spot
First out, played in less than 3 hours, turkey deer, rabbits , horses
save your money
maybe the lousiest course I have ever played.40% of fairways no grass ,not under repair, just hard dirt. trees overhang ,blocking greens and fairways. no tee boxes just some markers stuck in the ground. ball marks never repaired,Saw one marshall all day and he was looking for balls in the hillside
Not a well kept course
Not a well kept course, no markers, poor staffing. Course was barely open for my assigned tee time and still had to wait with no other players present
Ok for price
Fairways and tee boxes need lots of help. Fairway lots of bare spots , tee boxes grass needs cutting.
Needs attention!
I grew up in Castro Valley and remember this course as being beautiful! That has changed...a bunch, the clubhouse smelled of mildew, peeling paint, and the guy running the desk wasn`t friendly at all,(seemed he was doing us a favor, letting us spend our money there) had to return to clubhouse to get a scorecard, fairways had more dirt than grass. This place needs help to return it to what it once was.
Nice layout with plenty of wildlife, trees and creeks
Tee boxes could use some work. Usually plays under 4 hours. Today happened to be exceptionally slow. Slow greens, need mowing.
Short but challenging
Course was in decent shape for the middle of summer. Greens were receptive and rolled smooth. Creek will get you if you don't respect it. Fairways were firm...bare in a couple of spots...but no too bad overall. Course is a local favorite during summer because of the trees and shade. A good day.
Course is in a nice wooded park setting with no houses in between the hills of Castro Valley. Pace of play slow.
I liked the course, but the pace of play was too slow. Maybe the pace of play was slow because it was on Friday (July 5th), the day after Fourth of July (lots of people off work due to the holiday). Since I liked the course, I will play it again to see if the pace of play was unusual due to it being that day. The course is not that long, but has some very narrow fairways ( very tight). Fairways were in moderate condition. The greens were in good condition, and very soft, so approach shots stopped very well on the greens. This is after a VERY hot spell of weather. If you don't hit the ball straight, the creek that meanders through the course will consume a few of your golf balls. Since the course is tight, but not long, I did not use my driver off the tee too much.
Simple but well maintained course in a beautiful setting.
Many doglegged decently long holes combined with some uncomplicated par 3 holes. Not a whole lot of variety. If you can keep the ball in the fairway this would be a pretty easy course. Not many hazards in play. However as soon as you hit the rough on most holes it increases the difficulty significantly. Many well developed trees lining each hole and ravines separating most adjacent fairways. Its very easy to lose balls if you stray from the fairway.
too bad it's not well maintained
slow & bumpy greens
fairways have lots of spots that are muddy, have no grass, or have weeds
basically, the management really needs to improve the course condition and maintain it...
Course in fair condition, very slow pace
The management has tee times 7 minutes apart so naturally, there is a backup and in general, the course plays very slow. The golf carts are very old and in poor condition, and the area around the greens is either over watered or not watered at all. You are either trying to chip out of the muck, or off of hard pan.
Good course for you're money
This is a good walking or riding course. The greens and fairways are well maintained and the pins are set to make you work for making par or birdie. I really enjoyed my time spent around towering hills and unspooked wild life on this charming golf course. I will deffinetely come again and I recommend this course to anyone
