Was Alright
Course was in winter shape, fairways brown and dormant. Greens were brown and dormant also which was unusual but roll decent.
City Picked It Up
Alfred Tup Holmes has recently been picked up by the city of Atlanta. They seem to be putting some effort into bringing it back to good conditions! New carts and repairing bunkers were first on the list. I think with a year or two of care like this, it'll be a really solid muni.
Nothing fancy and definitely not for people with high expectation of their courses and clubhouse yet. Not located in the best area from initial observations but I haven't seen or heard anything that could be considered negative about the surroundings.
Staff was AMAZING there. If you're an Atlanta golfer, the "ForePass" card includes this course and makes it pretty worth it. I'll definitely play it again, close enough to the city and it's golf!
Unacceptable.
While I am sure that this course was once a southern jewel, it is in a state of disrepair that is unspeakable.
I would be less that forthright if I didn't forewarn any and everyone considering this track to stay far away until MUCH work is done to improve course conditions.
In its current state, this isn't even a spot where I would allow my beloved dog to relieve himself.
...and it's a shame, because the course is named after a hall-of-fame golfing pioneer in the state of Georgia.
Nice re-visit
Haven't played Tup in a while, it was a nice surprise. Course was in nice condition pace of play was wonderful.
Great greens.
Course layout was great, lots of yardage and wide open for the less precise drivers. Biggest and really only big complaint was the condition of the fairways. If i was a really serious golfer i would be more upset having to move my ball a little bit to get a good lie in the middle of the fairway. On the flip side the greens were in fantastic condition, were quick but not super fast which is exactly how i like it and rolled true and straight with minimal divots. Didn't get to play the last 3 or 4 holes because of rain which i saw in the morning and called to see if we could get on a little early and the guy was super cool about it, otherwise probably would have only gotten in 9 holes kudos. Would recommend this course if you are trying to work on your distance add there is only 3 par 3's and most other holes you can pull out the big stick, even the dog legs if you can shape a little bit.
The course has a great layout
Course has a challenge for all handicaps holes 9 and 17 are breathtaking just looking from tee box to green that being said a few cosmetic tweaks and the course can easily become a favorite place to play invest in some sand for the bunkers
Not in good shape. Low cost greens fees.
I've play this course once with a friend. It was not in good shape. Some of the fairways were slightly over grown.
I think the course could be really fun if it were just in better shape. The greens were decent, biggest issue was the fairways.
For $15 I might play it again.
Ownership changed ...quite good condition now
This course needs a lot of work
Notice all my high ratings had little to do with play.
The course was in really bad shape . The fairways were patchy Some of the tee boxes had NO grass all were in poor shape. Some of the waterways were badly eroded.
Play was fast, only a few players' the staff was very pleasant and cordial HE was the best thing on the course
Decent Golf for the Price
Overall, course was in good shape. Worth the money you pay, but the one big problem is pace of play. They need to either have all walkers or all riders. Took way too long to play 9 short holes
1st Time at Alfres Holmes
Enjoyed the round of golf and would like to return regularly since I am a member of the players club. My only concern is the course was very wet and soggy in places and it had not rained in quite some time. Love the practice facility!
Alfred Tup Holmes
This course front nine fairway grass was high, had not been cut recently. They stated equipment was broken. I have played this course several times, this was the worse condition I have seen it.
DONE WITH THIS COURSE
The WOREST COURSE!!!!!! GRASS IS NOT CUT FOR A YEAR, NO FOOD, FAIRWAY ARE THE WORST AND THE LAWN EQUIPMENT HASN'T WORK IN A YEAR, THAT WHAT I WAS TOLD.
Fairways were as thick as the rough......
You should not lose balls when you land in the middle of the fairway. I've been going for years and always like it because it was a 'ok' course for a great price... Now it's unfortunately fallen well below 'ok' and was almost unplayable.
I'll just have to spend more money elsewhere. The savings no longer outweighs the course quality.
The course is in terrible shape
This is the worst course I have ever played anywhere. The fairways are field grass that isn't mowed, the rough is tall field grass and the greens are terrible. It is cheap but in this case, you get what you pay for. Don't play this course.
disappointed
I have enjoyed Tup Holmes for several years, but yesterday was an all time low. Although the greens were in excellent condition, the fairways were extremely too high. I lost several balls in the fairway and found balls belonging to others. Considering i don't hit the fairway that often, this was very disappointing. If nothing else, inform the patrons prior to playing a round. Fair is fair!
Worst course ever!
The course was in horrible condition. It was unplayable. Would hit a far way but the grass was to high to find you ball. Will never play there again.
Ownership changed ...Conditions are now good and would be a pity to leave dogs on it ;-)
